Drakenheim Demilitarization Directive
The Drakenheim Demilitarization Directive is a directive that prohibits the army of the Commonwealth of Humanity from entering the Wetlands of Drakenheim in order to avoid any potential hostilities with the Lizardfolk and other inhabitants of the wetlands. The line of demarcation is set 120 feet south of the wall at the neck of the land, also known as The Wetland's Edge. This legislation was written and passed by the Commonwealth Mayorate, the institution of mayors, experts and representatives who rule over the Commonwealth of Humanity. The Lizardfolk do not have a government or organization to represent them, and they cannot be negotiated with, as they are a society without representatives. They will simply react when provoked with all that they have.
The directive was created in order to maintain the delicate balance of power within the Wetlands, and to avoid the risk of the Lizardfolk unifying and forming a unified response against the Commonwealth. The primary proponent of this directive was Oddessa Iceglade. The Mayor of Eastmere voted against this directive, believing that in cases of emergency, the army might be needed in the wetlands. However, the majority of the Commonwealth Mayorate saw the wisdom in Odessa's argument and passed the directive.
It is important to note that the directive does not completely prohibit all forms of interaction with the wetlands. The Commonwealth has established a group of scouts known as the Wetland Wayfinders who are allowed entry into the wetlands. These scouts are instructed to make an effort not to engage the Lizardfolk or to go unnoticed by them.
Violations of the directive by military personnel may result in imprisonment, with the length of imprisonment depending on the severity of the violation and the harm caused to the wetlands and its inhabitants.
