Filithidir

Flithidirs are gnomes who have been transformed by Fey energies, either through exposure to the Domain of Nature or to a Fey Portal, or through prolonged exposure to the magic of powerful Fey beings. The transformation process is often unpredictable and can result in varying degrees of physical and magical transformation.
Flithidirs retain some of their gnome appearance, with only slight feathery crests or feathered wings. They are able to shapeshift between their natural form and a variety of birds. Flithidirs are known for their bright and colorful appearance, often adorning themselves with colorful clothes and adornments, even when in their bird form.
Flithidirs are creatures of contrasts, exhibiting both bright, chaotic energy and moments of calm wonder. They are known for their loud and lively nature, but are also easily startled. Flithidirs are known for their beautiful singing voices, but can also produce ear-splitting noises to confuse or startle their foes.
Flithidirs are relentless in their pursuit of new experiences and things, with some seeking out new stories, songs, and foods, while others are more interested in collecting objects of interest. This can manifest as a desire for shiny objects, but Flithidirs are also drawn to items with specific shapes, textures, or colors.
When a Flithidir encounters someone with something they want, they may offer something in exchange, usually a beautiful song or acrobatic display, or they may simply request the item with great charm. If the item is denied to them, Flithidirs can become frustrated or even enraged.
In The Fey Eminence, Flithidirs are valued for their playfulness and creativity. They are often seen as the court jesters or entertainers, performing acrobatic feats and singing beautiful songs to delight the courtiers. They are also known for their clever and cunning nature, and they are often trusted with important tasks and negotiations.
Some find their way to the Skypiercer Clans where flithidirs are often seen as oddities. Their ability to shapeshift into birds is seen as a useful skill, but their fey nature is often seen as impulsive and temperamental. Some Skypiercer clans are more accepting of flithidirs, but others view them with distrust, believing them to be untrustworthy or prone to treachery. Despite this, many Skypiercer clans value the intelligence and resourcefulness of flithidirs, and they are often welcomed as advisors and scouts.
Despite their acceptance in some Fey Courts, flithidirs often feel alienated from the Arcasturm Republic. The rigid and orderly nature of Arcasturm society can be stifling for flithidirs, who crave novelty and freedom. As a result, many flithidirs choose to live in the more chaotic and unpredictable Follow courts, where they can be themselves without fear of persecution.
