Selûne's Fishhook

Mechanics & Inner Workings

When you roll a 20 on your attack roll with this magic weapon, the target takes an extra 2 lightning damage. (Increases to 7 damage if the wielder is 10th level or higher).

The Fishhook has 4 charges.

It regains 1d4 expended charges at dawn. If you expend the last charge, roll a d20, on a 1, the fishhook loses all magical effect and remains nonmagical until Selûne deigns to restore it.

The charges can be expended to cast the following spells:

  • Polymorph (4th level) (1 charge)
  • Wild Shape (at druid’s level) (1 charge) - This does not count towards a druid’s daily uses of this class feature. The transformation must still adhere to class level restrictions.
  • Absorb Elements (1st level) (1 charge)

The Fishhook captures some of the incoming energy, lessening its effect on you and storing it for your next melee attack. You have resistance to the triggering damage type until the start of your next turn. Also, the first time you hit with the Fishhook on your next turn, the target takes an extra 1d6 damage of the triggering type (ending the effect).

The Fishhook also gives the following passive bonuses:

  • The person attuned to it gains proficiency with War Picks
  • The person attuned to it gains advantage on all Nature checks
