History of The Famine of the Stars

Vol. I

Chapter 1: Introduction   We will be going over the brief history of the Northern Star Empire and how it came to be. The people who founded the Empire came from the southern shores of Charybdis. The part of the history we will be going over is the trail of sorrows and the founding of its remaining people.   Chapter 2:Harvest of Sorrow       During the early 150 AE, the Star Empire had broken ties with the Council of Wolves by refusing to accept food and seed shipments. The demand for cheaper food was on the rise as the population was always growing beyond the ability to pay for the seeds of the Council. The great noble houses rose up to demand that the Emperor do something to rid them of the dependency of Council seeds.       The Crowned Emperor Decimus made a decree to ban the use of Council seeds within ten years. By the end of the ten-year, the crops of the Star Empire had begun to allow excess to be stored for winters. The members of the Council continued to try and sell seeds and food for many years only to be attacked or imprisoned. It was not until 194 AE, that a crop plague began to spread across the Empire from border to border.        By the end of the first winter nearly 1/5th of the population of the five kingdoms that comprised the Empire had died off due to famine. Many had died in their homes and the worse of them died to hungry people unwilling to die. The last of the armies of the Empire was only able to keep the peace by raiding the Ana people and some last-minute dealings with the Kindred Lands  Chapter 3:Trail of Sorrows       The Emperor failing in his divine duties was entombed into the hidden crypts before the crowning of the new Emperor. By the crowning of the next in line, the people had begun to gather in the northern camps on the borders. With the fall of the last Emperor, the people demanded change and revolt was near until the new youth of an Emperor addressed the people. His proclamation to his people was to open up relations with the Council of Wolves again. This was too late to save the plagued lands, but the Council opened up with wide arms and invited the remaining peoples to join them in the north.       It has never been known what the recorded path was that took the many people of the Star Empire north, but it was long and many died on the way. The young Emperor barely over sixteen years old on arrival to the north fell dead knowing his people would be safe. On his death, the people built a great tomb and a new capital city around it. The people's faith in the Emperor elevated the young boy to a risen demi-god.        The day after the Emperor was raised from his tomb was the day that the Council's grand diplomat arrived. The divine Emperor and the grand diplomat spoke in private for many days until they both came out to announce a parternership. The lands around the capital city of the Council of Wolves will be granted to the Star Empire so long as they defend the roads and lands of the Council. At the time of this writing, the people of the Northern Star Empire live well and have honed the military skills to defend those within the realms.
