Northern Star Empire

United under the banner of Emperor Priscus, The Northern Star Empire is a relatively stable nation, despite not being the most powerful Civilization on Charybdis. with representation for all major landowners in the Ear of the Emporer. In total, there are four servitor houses which controll the lands of the Empire; The Planewatchers, The Hillards, The Shorelanders, and the Fordwatchers., beneath them are 21 counts and their courts, which consist of 697 duchys. The commen man, knows little of the political landscape, but is certainly acquainted with the heavy amounts of iron, silver, and gold found in the kingdom's myriad mines. While not as rich as those of the Dweorg, the Empire's mines produce enough coin to keep the kingdom peaceful and prosperous. The real power of the kingdom, however, comes from its powerful system of roads, each one covered in various tollbooth castles, which exercise their power over any wishing to seek trade with the Council of Wolves.

The Northern Star Empire rose from the ashes of the plague that decimated its people. Led by their leader, Emperor Dovian, they travelled north to a new land with more fertile soil and an abundance of resources for sustenance. With courage and tenacity in their hearts, the people built a new home for themselves under Emperor Dovian's guidance. Through hard work, dedication and ingenuity, they created an empire that would stand strong over two hundred years later. Through trade and diplomacy with other nations, the Northern Star Empire flourished as did its culture which was heavily influenced by those around it. Artisans crafted beautiful works of art while bards sang tales of heroism and adventure. The rich diversity of languages spoken throughout this vast land kept the culture alive and vibrant. However, this trail of sorrows is not forgotten by those living in the Northern Star Empire today. The memories of that fateful journey to a foreign land remain deeply rooted in their cultural identity, their history and their stories; never forgotten nor forsaken. Through it all, the Northern Star Empire continues to thrive as a beacon of hope for its people. For hundreds of years they have endured, through war and peace alike - A testament to the strength of their spirit and courage in facing adversity. Their legacy lives on still to this day; an example of resilience and perseverance in uncertain times. By honoring these tales from long ago we remember not just our origins but also a reminder that Castra, the capital of the Empire, will always remain at the heart of this nation - a symbol of strength and unity. Castra is a living monument to those who have gone before us, to their courage and strength, as well as a reminder that change is possible if we work together and never forget where we come from. Castra is an example for all people that even in difficult times it is still possible to rise above and build something beautiful. It stands today as one shining beacon in an ever-changing world. It has been said that Castra was chosen by Emperor Dovian himself due to its strategic location at the border between the Northern Star Empire and Wynn Kingdom. Castra's defensive fortifications and the policy of allowing only one legion at a time within it, ensures that no military coups are ever possible. To this day, Castra stands as a symbol of strength and unity for all who live in the Northern Star Empire. Just to the north of Castra lies Phrourion, the second-largest city in the Empire and home of the Shorelanders. It's bustling whaling businesses have earned it a reputation far beyond its borders. As a nod to its past, many of Phrourion’s streets still bear names from days gone by, such as Shark Bay and Whale Road. In this city – both old and new – one can find evidence of how even in these tumultuous times, unity is possible when different cultures come together peacefully. The town of Albatorium is an example of the many towns that have risen from the ashes in these harsh times. With its abundance of quarries and scholars, it’s no wonder that it has prospered in this unforgiving land. It is home to one of the Empire's most renowned places - The Gleaming Tower which houses a large library filled with knowledge and prophecies made by the Oracle of the North Star. The Plainswatcher family governs Albatorium, providing security and stability for its citizens who are free to pursue their dreams within its friendly confines. The small town of Trada, located at the far border of the Northern Star Empire, is often considered a cornerstone and strategic training location for the Empire's Legions. Not only does it serve as a strong defense against any potential attack from the Council of Wolves, but it also provides training and education to those who have sworn their allegiance to Emperor Dovian. It is home to the Fordswards who cultivate their own land and use traditional methods passed down throughout generations to guide them in rural life. From Castra in the south all the way up to Trada in the east, each region of the Northern Star Empire has its own unique culture and heritage that binds them together as one nation. This diversity gives rise to a vibrant culture filled with grand tales, legends, and customs that are remembered through the ages. It is a testament to the strength of spirit found in the people of this great Empire that even in harsh times they can come together as one unified nation.
