Duke

A Duke or Duchess is a rank of nobility unique to the nation of Halen.
A Duke rules over a Duchy, a large swath of land within Halen, on behalf of the King.
While the title of Duke is traditionally hereditary, passing on to the eldest child, this is not strictly enforced. Under the laws of Halen, a Duke may adopt their chosen successor and identify them as their heir if there are no suitable heirs amongst their biological children, or they have been unable to produce an heir.
