Session 7 - Secrets of Cynidecea
General Summary
Having dealt with the roaming hobgoblins, Feebs’ lower constitution causes him to need to have a rest so he returns to the room where the jester’s coffin is at. So that he is not bothered, Gunkyn casts invisibilityon him while he sleeps.
Meanwhile, Sylbella and Gunkyn attempt to continue exploring the pyramid’s fourth tier. But they are soon interrupted when they come across a small group of Magi of Usimagaras. After a brief parlay, during which Gunkyn is able to produce a holy symbol of Sehanine using minor illusion, a symbol that looks much like the symbol of Usimagaras, they are invited to accompany the Magi to their temple, which is on the third tier.
There they meet the leader of their faction, Auriga Sirkinos who is cordial to begin with and even allows them to observe their religious ceremony and presents them with refreshments in the form of a very good wine – a wine that the two immediate recognize as being from the stash of food and wine they found a couple of days ago in a secret room.
After the ceremony, Auriga asks Sylbella and Gunkyn if they might like to join their faction, as they already worship, or at least honor their goddess as they are able to determine that Usimagaras and Sehanine are one and the same. However, Sylbella is only offered “lesser” membership since she is not a wielder of the arcane. This insults Sylbella gravely, and what started off as a amiable exchange becomes bitter. Auriga demands that they leave their temple and warns them that they best hope they not cross paths again.
The two leave and continue their explorations on the fourth tier, returning to where they first met the group of Magi. Entering a room upon which there is an image of a humanoid burned into the door, they find a pair of ghoulsripping apart the mummy inside of a sarcophagus. During the ensuing battle, both are injured and Gunkyn is temporarily paralyzed by one of the ghouls, but Sylbella is able to finish them off.
Deciding that enough excitement for one day, they retrieve Feebs and bring him to the sarcophagus room since they feel they can make it more secure and settle in for a long rest.
