Dert
Dert was a small village that was situated near the Sea of Bitterness, and served as an intermediary town to the High Forests and the Plains of Manneruck. During the days of the Divided Kingdom, it swore fealty to the Kingdom of Larian.
Demographics
Dert is largely a human-populated city. The humans in these lands identify as Gothan for their nationality. Otherwise, it is not uncommon to see Elves, Dwarves, Halflings, and Dragonborn within the vicinity of the city.
Government
Dert has opted to elect for themselves "mayors" for their leadership, instead of being ruled directly by a noble. Every six years they elect a new mayor to be their townmaster and organize military and events. Otherwise, the mayor swears fealty to the local Duke of Manneruck, and thus the duke collects the taxes and delivers a large portion of it to the King of Gotha.
Defences
Dert is a largely weak city, only protected by people who volunteer to be guards. They own no ballistae and have no walls; it is merely a small farming city. Thus they largely depend on the King to protect their town, or often consort with the rangers and knights of the land to protect their village.
Infrastructure
Dert is largely unremarkable; it is a largely farming and fishing village, though there is also significant textile production inside the city. It is not uncommon to see large flocks of sheep outside of the city led by shepherds, which provide food and wool. There is a watermill outside the city that runs by a creek which enters the Sea of Bitterness.
History
It is unknown when the town of Dert was actually settled. Some local historians speculate it was started as a buffer town by humans to get into contact with the elusive elves during the days when the Gothans were still tribal. During the days of the Divided Kingdom, Dert served as a temporary diplomatic ground between the King of Larian and the High Elves. Nowadays, it serves as a small trade town, seen as rather insignificant compared to the larger cities surrounding it.
Geography
Dert is surrounded by rolling plains, light forests, and sits next to the Sea of Bitterness for fishing purposes. In these forests many fear the fey, but they are also roamed by rangers in the land.
