Cinder

Cinder, a realm of ash and embers, is a fantasy world heavily influenced by the Western European Middle Ages and Gothic Horror. Areas like The Broken Barony struggle with infighting and a lack of proper resources to protect it's people, who are ravaged by monsters daily, while the City of Blood deals with plague, class disparity, and inequality in technological advancements. While the mortals of Cinder struggle to survive their everyday lives, the Fields of Ash to the far south begin to engulf the world...

A D&D game in the world of Cinder tends towards being more difficult and unforgiving than the standard game, and focuses on lower power levels. The tradeoff is that a player has more agency in the world of Cinder than the standard D&D game, being able to choose their own path and influence the history of the world of Cinder in a way which they choose, no straightforward adventure paths. Games do not tend to follow the standard power fantasy game of Fifth edition, leaning more towards games centered around mystery, political intrigue, war, survival, and horror. Popular media examples of the types of stories that would be present in Cinder include: A Game of Thrones, The Witcher, Breaking Bad, and The Walking Dead.
