Rhaza

Rhaza

I stole a ruby red necklace from a house, but security was a lot higher than expected. Unknown to me, the necklace housed a devil of some kind, and offered me help out of the situation I found myself in.   Tall gaunt bronze skinned man, slicked back black hair, attractive face, black neck tattoos, lose shirt. I don't know much else about him. Conventional Ashkar clothes, but rich.   Going back home, I had a gut feeling on how to use some of the same powers he showed me. He said we might see each other again. Fine by me, friend.

Opportunity Lost

*The edges of this page and many of the ones following it are covered in dried blood*   So far, this extra job has been dangerous, but lucrative. There was some strange business with some religious types, guarding some old artifacts. And another thing you wouldn't believe, living statues of some kind of lion people. We managed to deal with both of them and find some kind of ancient treasure they were guarding. A blue scarab.   I have to say brother, I forgot the first rule of stealing in that room: Nothing is ever easy. The door shut on me and the room began filling with sand. Luckily Sobek held the door open for me. Friend nearly got crushed for it, but now we should be a good deal richer. This will buy us a lot of essentials, for a long time.   I write this after the first day, after we left to let Sobek rest up. Tomorrow we should finish looking around, and I suspect there may be more hidden secrets. That means more money for us brother. When I get back to read this to you, you'll already know how much.   *The bottom of the page has Draconic script and flecks of dried blood*

A Small Delay - Potential Oppurtunity

Hassan,   It seems I may be a bit longer on this trip than was originally planned. The man running this dig site has offered me and the other guards a lucrative job. It's a risk, but if I don't take this, we'll be through the gold we got from the Falcon contract. Hopefully this explains my delay in returning home.   It may not be as much of a risk as it seems at first. I gave Sobek some instructions, and we'll be payed if I don't make it. I've been making progress trying to make sense of Trystan's strange religion. Apparently there is a plan, or some kind of destiny planned for the world. I guess being killed by a giant scorpion last week wasn't a part of that plan?   *Draconic script continues*

Falcon Contract - Final Day of Travel

Brother,   We've made our way most of the way through the desert. The professors say we should reach these ruins by sometime tomorrow. I'm ready to be back in civilization, at least in some way. Most of the travel ranged from boring to terrifying, all of it in the harsh conditions of the cliffs and desert.   It wasn't all bad. The views from high on the cliff were unlike anything I've seen. Endless stars without another person in sight for miles. And complete silence. No distant sounds of merchants or muffled shouting. I liked the view out, but the view down worried me too much to appreciate.   It might surprise you to know that the cliffs actually have people living in them, although they aren't human like us. Not dragonborn either. They were some kind of dog-like group of people. Even the smaller ones were the size of Sobek. A group of around 7 chased us on all fours and effectively surrounded us, took us for most of our gold and some of our supplies. You would think that as a noble, Thornheart would know the drill for being robbed, but it was apparently his first time. We made it out with enough supplies, though.   It wasn't worse than this scorpion in the desert. Apparently some of our group saw something metallic, something shiny in the middle of the sand dunes. Nothing is ever that easy. The dragonborn jumped into this small boat he brought to travel the downhills, and barely escaped being crushed by a giant claw. He managed to avoid getting hurt too badly. As it turns out, the chains around Trystan's arms are also more than just symbolic. With luck, I will be on a sand boat back to the city with the Falcon's gold.   -More draconic script follows-

Third Night of Golden Falcon Contract

Brother,   The first three days of our journey has went well. Better than well, in some aspects. We are less than a day's travel to the Aeon cliffs as I write this. The jungle has been both beautiful and frightening. I worry about the cliffs. I am used to heights, but I'm sure the buildings of Ashqar can't prepare me for what we're about to traverse.   There are two professors and three other guards travelling with me. There are also many students, but none have stood out to me.The professors seem nice enough, although they are fairly old to be making such a trip by land. You would like them, if you met them.   The other escorts include 2 outlanders and a dragonborn. Falcon is certainly saving their gold on this trip. Their is a nobleman from the Baronies, family name of Thornheart. He seems incredibly out of his depth in the wilderness. We had to travel through some marshland by the River of Sand, but his face almost made it worth it. The other is more polite, but even stranger. An armored woman from the church, Trystan. Follows the Scripture, of course. She carries a dark sword around with her everywhere she goes. It's attached by a chain to her wrist, and she never let's it go. Says it's "symbolic", but she definitely knows how to use it. Lastly, the dragonborn, Sobek, is a green-scaled beast of a man. He's older, but he carries around an axe that probably weighs more than you. Probably older, too. I think he enjoyed the trip through the marshes as well as I did.   First days were uneventful. Scared off some wildlife trying to raid the food stores. Third day, we came across another camp. They were bandits, though we didn't know at first. Thornheart said he had a plan, and asked me to cover him with the crossbow. Yes, you were right that I should spend some gold on it, but I hope I won't need further use of it; I think his plan involved him storming into the camp like only nobles can as a distraction. Sobek and I took half of them off guard, and most of them fled. I don't want to give further details to you.   Apparently they had stolen some crates filled with artifacts from a sandship. Maybe this will mean a bonus from Falcon. I will certainly argue for one.   *There are also several bulleted lines written in the Draconic script*
