I'm Aldo Heikki, and my journey began in the picturesque town of Oulu, located in Northern Finland. Surrounded by stunning landscapes, dense forests, and pristine lakes, Oulu was a place where nature's beauty was a constant source of inspiration. It was also a place where the legacy of my family's construction expertise was deeply rooted.
My grandfather, Aarne, was a master builder, renowned for his craftsmanship throughout Northern Europe. His creations, from traditional log cabins to modern structures, were a testament to his ingenuity. My father, Kalle, followed in his footsteps and took up the family business. He imparted his knowledge and passion for construction to me from a young age, teaching me the intricacies of the trade.
Growing up in Oulu, I spent my childhood playing amidst the forests, building makeshift treehouses and exploring the nearby riverbanks. My hands became accustomed to the feel of rough-hewn wood and the smell of freshly cut timber. These early experiences instilled in me a love for the outdoors and a deep appreciation for the beauty of the natural world.
As I entered my teenage years, my father took me under his wing, introducing me to the world of construction. I began as a labourer, learning the basics of the trade, from mixing concrete to framing walls. It was a physically demanding job, but the satisfaction of seeing a project come to life was incomparable. The rugged charm of the construction site became my second home.
I furthered my education by enrolling in a construction management program at a nearby vocational school, which allowed me to develop my leadership skills and gain a deeper understanding of the industry. By the time I completed my studies, I was already well-versed in the intricacies of construction management.
With my newfound knowledge and experience, I ventured into the world of construction, taking on various roles in the industry. From working as a site supervisor to managing my own projects, I embraced each challenge that came my way. The construction industry was fast-paced, demanding, and at times stressful, but it was a thrilling adventure I embraced wholeheartedly.
Life took an exciting turn when I met Leena, a talented artist with a passion for cooking. Her creativity and culinary skills brought warmth and vibrancy to our home. We fell in love, and our relationship blossomed into a partnership filled with adventure and shared dreams. We decided to build our own family together, and soon enough, our son Aukusti came into our lives, reminding us of the simple joys that life had to offer.
Outside of work, nature continued to be a significant part of our lives. We often strapped on our hiking boots and ventured into the Finnish wilderness. The tranquil forests and pristine lakes provided the perfect escape from the demands of the construction industry. Those moments spent in the great outdoors were a precious respite, allowing us to recharge and appreciate the beauty of our surroundings.
My thirst for knowledge led me down a path of continuous learning. I delved into a wide range of subjects, from architecture and engineering books to exploring the hidden gems of Finnish literature. I believed that a well-rounded perspective was the key to a fulfilling life.
As I entered my mid-twenties, I began to feel a deep calling to make a difference in the construction world. I aspired to champion sustainable building practices, acknowledging the importance of preserving the environment for future generations. It was a challenging yet rewarding path I chose to follow, and with the unwavering support of my family, I was excited to see where it would lead.
Today, as a 26-year-old Construction Subcontractor, my life may be a whirlwind, but it's one I'm grateful to be part of. The love and adventure shared with my wife, Leena, and the joy of watching our son, Aukusti, grow remind me of the simple yet precious moments that make life truly special. I continue to build dreams from the ground up, carrying forward the legacy of craftsmanship that has been in my family for generations.
