Coia: 10 - Zen and the Art of Lavatory Maintenance
General Summary
On entering Wigham, the guard at the gate tells them of some orcs and an ogre who’ve been terrorizing and extorting people of the town. They head over to the tavern where the orcs greet them with daggers and chaos ensues. During the scuffle a cloud of fog blinds the group and they take the fight outside where Nym kills the Ogre with a blow to the head and Retta blasts the arms off the Orc Chief. There was much joy and Jubilation, and Moose Knuckle hit on the mayors wife...repeatedly.
They go back inside to find that the fog had been created by Zenhorn , a traveling rogue who the orcs had attempted to rob. He's looking for work and asks the party if he can join them. After spending the night in the governor's house, they headed back to Tetbury to let Yaldra know the portal wasn't active but they destroyed it anyways.
Back at the Library
After recanting their story to Yaldra, she has some updates for the group. She tells Nym that the Ring of Mind Shielding is likely harmless unless previously worn by a high-level mage or sorcerer. She traced it back to Borivik Seshani, a drunken mage librarian from Herthe. She tells Moose that she's aware of his predicament and there’s a chance to break the curse on the book, by killing its creator, but there may be consequences. After relaying her updates, the ruler of Tetbury Lord Mangdaor-Roth enters the room and havng already been briefed by Yaldra, offers the group a proposition. He offers them 1000 platinum a piece for each portal destroyed. The group happily accepts and starts to head out before he adds a few stipulations. The first being that the destruction of each of the portal must be confirmed before payment will be made. The second is that the city has been having some issues with creatures in the sewers recently and he needs the group to "take care" of that problem. Agreeing to the contract, the party immediately set out to the shitter to clear out the monsters or whatever was causing issues there. Before entering the shitter Nym slipped on the Ring of Mind Shielding. Nothing happened. It was kinda lame.Down in the Shitter
The shitter was well lit by a large glowing orb in the middle of the entrance. The party all groped it for good measure and then proceeded to murder anything that moved. Sszarden took a nap, while his owl scoped out ahead, allowing us to get the drop on some dumb bats. We continued wandering up to a fork in the road, where to the left stood a rickety bridge and to the right a stone bridge. Most of the party went down to check out the right side to find a Roper. Emis conjured some bear buddies and killed it.Rewards Granted
