General Richard Unterel of the 1st Aerilon Royal Corps (Un-te-rel)

General Richard Unterel

General Unterel was born to a merchant family in the City of Aerilon in 23180. He spent his childhood and teenage years loving the tales of the bravery of the Falradian Army. Working in the Kings Men tavern as a server, he would often stop talking with the soldiers who frequented the tavern. During this time, he met his mentor Knight-Captain Julian Helkos. At Julian's advice, he would join the Falradian Army as an officer at the age of 20.
He would start his career at the rank of Lieutenant commanding a platoon that served as a part of the 1st Aerilon Royal Corp. He would fight in the Second War of Thoroughfare during the final bloody decade of the war. During this time, he would earn respect as a commander and climb the ranks to the rank of Knight-Captain as he took over the position when Knight-Captain Helkos died in the ambush at Wilshar.
After the shameful end to the war and the creation of the Archduchy of Thoroughfare, Knight-Captain Unterel would lead his Brigade north to assist the Wardens of the North defence against the northern threats, such as Umbrian Warbands and Orc Clans for the next twenty years.
Knight General Illithor would commend him for his diligence, and this commendation would see his return to Falradia as a Knight Commander. He spent his days behind a desk for nearly twenty years, planning out tactics and drilling his Division in preparation for a war that never seemed to come. During this time, as the older generals died or retired, Knight-Commander Unterel was promoted to General of the 1st Aerilon Royal Corp.
Until the year 23250, when the Empire suddenly and almost without warning declared war against the Archduchy of Thoroughfare. In his mind, this was General Unterel's chance, one more war, one last fight to secure his legacy.
He was the first to volunteer when the young King Alexander called for soldiers to march south, mustering the full might of the 1st Aerilon Royal Corp within a short two months leading the Corp south with the King and other important leaders of Falradia.
He would command the Corp and personally fight in battles for nearly six months until he would die to a Duramic arrow during the Battle of Darton Keep. He would be memorialized with a silver statue in the Aerilon Military Academy.
