Frozen Spire Island
The Frozen land in the north where only the hardiest life can survive
Geography
Frozen Spire Island is a land perpetually shrouded in thick banks of snow, whirling clouds of ice and freezing fog, and freezing rain...it is a blisteringly cold place where only the hardiest and most daring lifeforms can even hope to endure, and the terrain is a brutal reflection of the environment. Primarily, the geography here is made up of massive tundras and sprawling fields of snow, blanketed in a perpetual blanket of white snow and ice hidden beneath it, with towering mountains an incredibly common sight around the landscape to break up the maddening monotony of the otherwise same-y landscape. Forests of towering conifers are common, and the massive Great Forest of Ysmir that sits nestled in a great bowl surrounded by mountains on all but one side is said to not only be the largest snow-covered forest on the Island, but was also once the ancestral homeland of Giantkind before The Jotunhunts which saw the downfall and destruction of their old empire.
The lakes and rivers here do flow but are so often frozen over and move as slow-moving ice flows, with what water does flow beneath the icy drifts that decorate the top of the water so frigid and freezing cold that even a Dai-Yukai can freeze within it. The cliffs here are jagged and icy, and the water around the island is dotted with icebergs and drifting islands that often have the ruins and wreckage of the last battles of The Jotunhunts.
Fauna & Flora
Not many flora can hope to survive in the icy tundra of Frozen Spire Island, and plantlife is mostly uncommon on the sprawling flatlands and endless fields of ice and snow that make up a majority of the Island. What little does exist stays mostly hidden beneath the snow and ice that cover the landscape...only the towering pine and conifer trees that make up the snow-capped forests that cover the land can truly thrive here, though it is not uncommon for faux flora to appear made of Uttercold as sprawling icy-blue plants that freeze those who come near them down to the very soul.
Similarly, not many animals can truly thrive here in the snow and ice covered landscape that makes up Frozen Spire Island...and what animals do exist here are of a breed so unbelievable tough and durable that they are commonly referred to as "Dire" animals by contemporary scholars. Here, the bears tower over the trees, the Wolves are as big as carriages and wagons, and the monsters and animals that dwell here are of a savage nature that is almost required to truly survive and thrive in this unforgiving landscape. Not many "innocent" or "harmless" exists here, and to survive, one must truly assume that any lifeforms they come across are dangerous in some way, or have expertly tuned abilities to evade danger.
Only the barbaric Jotun and the beautiful yet towering titanesses that are the Dai-Yukai are capable of carving out villages and fiefs within the freezing tundras and ice-covered forests across the Island, and though they are now little more than tribals living in the shadow of their former glory they defend what they perceive as "their" island with a ferocity few outsiders that come here can hope to match. With a simple lazy footfall, a single Dai-Yukai warrior of the island can and often does crush entire smaller villages beneath a single blue sole...to say nothing of when she gets serious and draws her weapons. Indeed, most who come to the island are either killed or taken as slaves by the barbaric creatures who dwell here.
Natural Resources
Frozen Spire Island is ironically quite rich in mineral resources, as well as timber and even the notoriously hard to reach and harder to mine Uttercold...however, all these resources are rarely tapped into thanks to the barbaric nature of the creatures that live here. Those that dare to come to the Island to set up expeditions to claim these resources are often killed or enslave, with their operations destroyed in the span of mere days...afterwards, the weather will reclaim what little they achieved in short order.
