Morghul
The mysterious mage who rules the Free-City of Morghul, genius pioneer of the Atomic School of Magic
Lord Morghul (a.k.a. The Atomic Tyrant)
My people. I know you have questions - about me, about the city in which you live, about the chaos beyond our walls. All reasonable questions - and in time, I promise you answers. For now, I ask only for your continued loyalty - the secrets of the ancients are laid bare before me now, and bent towards inexorable purpose. The rejuvenation of our lands was only the beginning; Only the smallest fraction of the power I now possess. Very soon, this city shall be transformed - and you will all know luxuries and amenities beyond your wildest dreams. You, my people, have made me your world in the long years since I founded this place - since your forefathers found safety and comfort within my walls where secrecy and freedom have always stood as the greatest virtues - and now, I aim to return that favor and deliver the world unto you. I swear it. On my name as Morghul, master of this free city.
Physical Description
General Physical Condition
Though he has only appeared before his people once throughout his rule of 500 years, Morghul's recent appearance has sparked his people ablaze with superstition and neurotic examinations of his appearance that day - from all available information, he seems to be a fairly normal sized(If somewhat small) humanoid who bears a masculine appearance - he favors thick and heavy robes that cover his entire body, wears a featureless mask to hide his face, and wears thick armwraps to hide all available skin on his arms and hands. From incredibly long and detailed studies done on his appearance that day, bits of skin that appear to peek through his armwraps reveal skin that was seemingly utterly pale on one arm and darkly tan on another.
Otherwise, his physical health is hard to guess at - the fact he has seemingly ruled unchallenged and unbothered for 500 years might suggestion a health constitution of Elven nature or perhaps a life extended by magic. At the current time, not enough information exists to verify any more details about his physicality.
Body Features
From the extremely little data gathered on him, Morghul's body seems by all accounts to be a relatively normal sized and shaped humanoid - he seems in good shape and somewhat muscular, and with little to no body fat to speak of.
However, information beyond this is utterly unknown.
Facial Features
As he has never shown his face in public, the appearance of his face is totally unknown.
Identifying Characteristics
As he has so rarely appeared in public, Morghul has few identifying features - at least, of his actual person. His attire, thusly, is his best identifying feature - always appearing with some manner of mask and elaborate robes carrying a thick grimoire(Either in a hand or around his belt) and a large staff in the other.
Physical quirks
As he has never appeared or shown his body in public, he seems to have no obvious physical quirks - and any others he may possess are not known.
Special abilities
Perhaps most famously, Morghul is a mage of peerless caliber - even before his recent discovery of a new school of magic, he was a mage powerful enough to enforce the laws of his city with such clean, precise applications of magical force that entire armies often payed him due deference and sought his permission before moving across his lands. Seemingly specialized in highly technical applications of wide-spread magic, Morghul's magical talent was something witnessed solely when others dared to approach his city with hearts full of hostile intent - most famously, raining down bolts of magical lightning on such a scale as to incinerate armies in a matter of seconds.
His magical talents were not merely destructive - his magical additions to his city's infrastructure have also been long lauded as the work of a genius so utterly brilliant that many of his magical inventions for his city are so advanced that, even centuries after their creation, they remain far and away more advanced than anything capable of being made in the modern day. A small but by no means exhaustive list of these more mundane inventions include a system for dispersing the accumulation of grudges and negative energy near buried corpses to prevent the spawning of undead, large magical pylons installed on building rooftops and atop city walls that act as 'lightning rods' for magical energy, dispersing and redirecting sudden bursts of magical energy to keep the city at a constant, stable level of Atlen, and even ingenius weather-manipulation stations that function based off magical and ontological principles that do not seem to originate from any known or existing system of magic or power on the entire Planet of Ea - capable of changing the weather around the Free-City of Morghul on the merest whim for casual or even more advanced reasons.
Of course, most famously and most recently, Morghul's magical talents have grown to include the newly created ninth school of magic - The Atomic School. Seemingly pioneered after Morghul managed to recover the ancient reactor of The Aurelian Hegemony of Man that appeared suddenly within The Scar and detonated, contaminating the soil for miles around with a foul invisible sickness that slaughtered all life over the course of years or decades, Morghul recover the remains of this reactor and studied it beneath his tower for decades - slowly using his magical talents to piece it back together to such a semblance of working order that he could divine its function and study the principles by which it operated. Lacking the scientific expertise of the reactor's long-dead High Human creators that once inhabited the long-defunct Aurelian Hegemony of Man, Morghul relied upon his magical knowledge to recreate the principles that the reactor required to function - and in doing so, discovered and pioneered the Atomic School of Magic; a School known so far to Morghul alone and used to fanastic effect for a number of impressive feats.
Apparel & Accessories
All told, Morghul has cut a fairly regal appearance the few times he has appeared before any sort of public eye - he seems to favor elaborate robes with ornate adornments on the shoulders with its length trimmed in gold or another precious metal. He seems to always wear some sort of full-face mask to hide his face, a hood to cover the rest of his head, heavy leather boots with metal soles, and thick wrappings along his arms to hide his arms and hands.
Otherwise, he seems to bear no baubles or other accessories - favoring simple regality over gaudy showmanship.
Specialized Equipment
The only specialized tools that Morghul has been seen in the possession of is a thick, leather-bound grimoire that is likely his spellbook - as well as a large gnarled wooden staff that swirls with a sickly green energy.

Personal history
Much of Morghul's history remains an utter mystery - though it also remains a subject of great interest to historians and simple fans of Morghul alike, who both eagerly desire to learn the secrets of the Atomic Tyrant for themselves for one reason or another.
From what little is known, Morghul appeared seemingly out of nowhere in the history books nearly five centuries ago when he founded the Free-City of Morghul in the lands that, at the time, were only beginning to become the anarchic wasteland of warring city-states that would in time be known as The Scar. Forging his fief in the northern lands of The Scar, Morghul ruled his city of secrecy from his high tower for centuries untold - operating quietly and secretly far from the public eye.
By and large, he did not emerge in any significant capacity into the public eye until the waning years of the Age of Penitence - when an ancient Archeotech Reactor of The Aurelian Hegemony of Man appeared suddenly within The Scar via unknown means and detonated, contaminating the soil for miles around with a foul invisible sickness that over the course of the following decades killed tens of thousands denizens of The Scar with a slow and horrendous death as their bodies slowly fell apart from the invisible, cancerous winds spewing from the detonated reactor. Morghul, emerging from his high tower, appeared before the ruined reactor and set about recovering its remains - using his vast magical talent to, over the course of a week, teleport the reactor in its entirety back beneath the Free-City of Morghul, where he sealed it away within his vaults beneath his High Tower and set about studying it beneath his tower for decades - slowly using his magical talents to piece it back together to such a semblance of working order that he could divine its function and study the principles by which it operated. Lacking the scientific expertise of the reactor's long-dead High Human creators that once inhabited the long-defunct Aurelian Hegemony of Man, Morghul relied upon his magical knowledge to recreate the principles that the reactor required to function - and in doing so, discovered and pioneered the Atomic School of Magic.
Then firmly within Age of Troubles, Morghul first displayed his magical power on the world stage by bringing an end to the anarchic wars that had overtaken The Scar - luring the armies of the area's other bickering city-states onto the field of battle within the scar's corrupted heartland and, in the first display of Atomic Magic seen upon the planet of Ea, unmade the armies before him down to their very smallest building blocks and, through means that are still being studied by arcane scholars, used those same building blocks to breathe new life into the central corrupted heartlands of the scar once known as The Forsaken Fields; returning green to the soil and sprouting treets where once had only lived blackened, lifeless soil for centuries.
Having essentially destroyed the other nations of The Scar, Morghul largely left the rest of them to collapse while he returned to his city and gave his now famous public speech the following day(Detailed at the top of this article) - and would largely return to isolation for the rest of the Age of Troubles until its latter years when the armies of The Kingdom of Aslaga led by Aslauge Daenic and her "Invincible Warband" came knocking at the door of his city with demands for him to use his Arcane Power and resources to fuel their army's fight against Van Hawk and his infinite legions.
Morghul's response could not have been clearer or more succinct - appearing in the skies above his city, Morghul was seen dancing two swirling particles above his palm before demanding Aslauge Daenic and her armies retreat from his city and reaffirming his commitment to neutrality. When Aslauge Daenic refused his offer and threatened to conquer his city, Morghul released the second and so far last Atomic Spell upon the land of Corexus - tossing the two swirling particles upon his palm into the air and colliding them simultaneously to create an explosion of such ludicrous potency that, in an instant, 99% of Aslauge Daenic's armies were vaporized, their silhouettes outlined in the grassy soil they once stood upon as even Aslauge Daenic and her Invincible Trio seemed rattled and severely injured by the force of the detonation.
Morghul, calmly repeating his demand a second time, successfully convinced Aslauge Daenic and the ruins of her army to retreat from his lands - becoming the first and so far only creature to hand the seemingly invincible Aslauge Daenic a defeat.
Sexuality
Unknown - Morghul has never made any appearances in public until recently, leading to many rumors that ranged from him being afraid of women, to him fearing intimacy, to even him being afraid of romance. The truth, meanwhile, is unknown - though his citizens enjoy speculating upon his sexual prefences as they do with all facets of his mysterious life.
Education
Unknown - though he likely received a magical education at some point in his life.

Failures & Embarrassments
None Known.
Mental Trauma
As he so rarely reveals himself to the public, the inner machinations of his mind are an utter enigma.
Intellectual Characteristics
As he so rarely reveals himself to the public, the inner machinations of his mind are an utter enigma.
Morality & Philosophy
Though much of Morghul's motivations and mental workings remain a mystery, his latest and so far only public speech to his citizens gives clues to his morality - he seems to place great, almost emotional importance on his citizens and their trust in him; seeming almost thankful for their continued choice to live within his city despite its rules and strangeness as if grateful his reign has lasted this long. Additionally, his words give a glimpse into the mind of a man who seems to place some degree of importance on returning favors he sees himself as owing others - meaning he likely is a man who considers his given word and his spoken deals some degree of importance. In many ways, his speech even hints to a potentially kind nature - though such things are hard to confirm.
Any other information on his morality is, at this point, unknown.
Personality Characteristics
Motivation
While his motivations are largely unknown and an utter mystery, his most recent and so far ONLY public speech has revealed him to be a man seemingly quite concerned with bettering the city over which he rules as well as the lives of his citizens.
Beyond this, he has displayed a clear and obvious interest in advancing the ways of magic - particularly his own unique School of Magic derived from his long studies of a collapsing energy reactor of The Aurelian Hegemony of Man that detonated within The Scar a few decades before the modern day towards the tail end of the Age of Penitence, whose secrets he has protected viciously ever since he revealed its power on the day The Scar was disbanded.
Beyond this, his motivations remain a mystery.
Savvies & Ineptitudes
Seemingly a quite brilliant mage who invented an entirely new school of magic(The Atomic School of Magic), He also seems to be quite a talented ruler(Though largely through the lens of managing a single city), a talented engineer and architect of civil infrastructure, and a cunning politician and schemer.
As he is a deeply careful man, especially regarding his weaknesses or ineptitudes, any information on such things of his are wholly unknown.
Likes & Dislikes
(Many of the below likes and dislikes are inferred rather than confirmed - such 'inferred' likes and dislikes are denoted by a * after them)
Likes: Doing right by those who do right by him*, Studying the relics of The Aurelian Hegemony of Man, Privacy, Exotic Pets*, Barkhan the Eternal*, Being alone in his tower*, His Collection of Pointy Wizard Hats, When things run smoothly or go according to plan, ???
Dislikes: The Scar, Romance*, Those who seek the secrets of Atomic Magic, Those who assume Atomic Magic is useful only for destruction, Wearing Pointy Wizard Hats, Being Seen in Public*, Crowds*, ???
Virtues & Personality perks
Because he is such a mysterious man, little can be said of Morghul in a positive or negative light in general - however, it is to his constant credit that he seemingly operates his city with such a dedication to not only efficiency, but with quiet earnestness; without any particular interest in glory, he has quietly upkept his city and abided the needs of his citizens without causing any public outcry or panic for nigh-on 500 years. In fact, he has done such a flawless job maintaining and run his city that he has often had to put down public uprisings in his city when his citizens became convinced that he was of no benefit to them only to panic when all his work was revealed as he halted all work on city utilities and infrastructure for a month, sending the city into a spiral of starvation and disease until they eventually realized the depths he goes to maintain the city for them.
Thanks solely to his dedication and constant quiet maintenance and upkeep of the Free-City of Morghul, Morghul has turned his city into one of the most advanced cities on Ea - though few would think of it as such even as they walked its streets, as its advancements do not come in the same ways as the cities of The Inaran Imperium, but in its unseen infrastructure; working sewers, efficient street layouts, advanced irrigation and crop terraces that keep the city self-sufficient, a legendarily effective system to manage the accumulation of negative energy near graveyards to prevent the formation of undead(Made nearly four centuries ago and STILL so advanced that it defies understanding), enormous magical diffusion poles placed around the city to ward off storms and errant magical storms or attacks, and countless other improvements that, while mostly subtle, contribute to an incredibly advanced city.
Additionally, while only speculated upon in recent years following his first public speech to his city in the wake of The Scar's collapse(Largely at his own hand), Morghul seems to be surprisingly genuine man who is surprisingly earnest in his desire to care for his citizens and deliver them the best quality of life he possibly can - seeming to be genuinely thankful to his citizens for living under his jurisdiction and wishing to repay that kindness; an utter rarity for rulers on Corexus OR Inara, who often treat their constituents' service as expected and thankless.
Vices & Personality flaws
Perhaps most obviously, Morghul's greatest known flaw is his own secretive nature - so secretive is he that the possibility has long been unable to be ruled out that the man known as "Morghul" may in truth be a series of identically built creatures who don the costume of "Morghul" to continue the facade of a singular, unbroken ruler. Utterly nothing is known of him - for better or worse.
Hygiene
Though he has only appeared in public once, Morghul seemed to keep a fairly immaculate appearance - though only having one appearance to base such assumptions off of means they may be somewhat inaccurate.
Social
Reign
Though the exact date of when the Free City of Morghul was founded isn't exactly known thanks to the scattered and irregular nature of The Scar, it was believed to be founded somewhere around 1550 AF - placing Morghul as a tyrant that has ruled over his city that he founded with the same name as he himself for well over 500 years. Forming the city around his enormous mage tower, Morghul has ruled the free-city under the central principles of Secrecy and Freedom for the entire time he has reigned over his city - making it illegal to pry into the pasts of the citizens and entitling all who dwelled within his city the right to speak of nothing so long as they paid their tithes to him.
As such, as his policies have extended his ample protections to any who pay his tithes and reside within the walls of his city, Morghul has been oddly beloved by many of his own citizens - though also feared in equal measure, which creates an odd atmosphere within his city of trust in their ruler coupled with a healthy dose of terror should he get involved in their affairs. By and large, his reign over the Free-City of Morghul is one of complete detachment - leaving his city to entirely fend for themselves so long as his tithes were paid on time, his citizens treated him with the respect afforded to any ruler, did not take his name in vein nor betray his trust, and did not break the few cardinal rulers of his city - promising to keep maintaining, modernizing, and expanding the infrastructure of his city and providing it at no charge to his citizens so long as these rules were followed.
As a result, his reign meant he almost faded into the background of his own city for centuries at a time - with few citizens living their entire lives without questioning the why or the how of why or how the city's various infrastructures kept functioning like clockwork. So effective was this style of rule, that Morghul ran into problems several times throughout his reign when his subjects began to question why they even needed him at all - not realizing that his seeming "uselessness" was only proof positive of how flawlessly he ran his own city.
Now, having seen his people quietly through the Age of Troubles and into the current Age of Godsfall and emerged for the first time since the beginning of his rule to publically address his citizens, Morghul has only further strengthened his own popularity amongst his people.
Contacts & Relations
Though he has long ruled over the Free-City of Morghul, Morghul himself has few contacts in the outside world - at least, any contacts that would be publically known. A relatively minor figure on the world stage for centuries, the few contacts he had accumulated were his fellow rulers within The Scar and a handful of minor lords, ladies, and landed nobles within The Empire of Draconia and a few warlords of The Wild Lands who dealt with him on rare occasions for various secretive dealings.
Otherwise, any relations and contacts kept by Morghul are an unknown quantity, as he has always been fairly notorious for working through intermediaries and contacting others through two or even three layers of "Go-Betweens" to ensure that those he deals with likely never know they are even dealing with him.
Family Ties
Perhaps expectedly for a man so secretive that even his skin, hair, and eye colors haven't been confirmed, Morghul has no known family members to speak of - and since even his race remains a mystery, finding them would be an impossible task.
Religious Views
Though Morghul's own personal views on religion are utterly unknown, his stance on religion within his city gives a hint as to his own tolerant nature - utterly any religion and its faithful is welcome within his city(Even those of such gods as Vvaal, The Bound Obliterator) so long as they follow the rules of his city, threatened casually with destruction should they dare to work or plot against him in any way.
Social Aptitude
Though Morghul never once made a public appearance in his city in nearly 500 years of rule, preferring to operate through edicts nailed to public boards and spoken via his personal attendants, his recent appearance in front of his people has painted quite the contrasting image that many had formed of him for centuries; rather than a grumpy, mysterious mage of sociopathic tendencies who ruthlessly keeps order in his city, Morghul spoke with the quiet earnestness of a man that seems oddly, deeply concerned with his own citizens and repaying them for their centuries of adherence to his rules.
Speaking earnestly and with quiet passion, Morghul's social aptitude during that sole public appearance showed him as a man with decent charisma who was polite, forward in his mannerisms, and seemingly quite earnest and even somewhat genuine in his speech. In summation, it has ironically only further stoked public interest in him.
Mannerisms
Though he was previously never seen in public, Morghul's singular appearance in recent years has presented him as a silent, largely unmoving man who speaks without moving much at all. His gestures carefully calculated and done with sharp, careful movements, Morghul is a mysterious and oddly intimidating man whose mannerisms resemble a doll or construct in their mechanism precision.
Hobbies & Pets
Though he has never been observed as being a particular fan of any hobbies, Morghul seems to be a rather big fan of animals of all kinds - the more exotic or unusual the animal, the better. He has, over the course of his centuries of rule, kept countless odd pets and beasts around his enormous palace-tower.
Speech
Unfortunately, information on Morghul's true voice is unknown - having given his only public appearance and speech in recent years, he used some sort of voice changing spell or device to hide his true voice, making the true sound of his voice an unknown factor. However, his speech betrayed a hint of a hard-to-place accent, as he slurred several of his syllables and ran his sentences together in a rather unique way.
Wealth & Financial state
Rather surprisingly, by many accounts, Morghul is not an overly wealth man - though such is hard to tell at all for any but a handful of dedicated historians of his reign that have managed to track his spending habits in his professional capacity - finding that most of his accumulated wealth that flows into him from tithes flows almost entirely back out and is reinvested into the infrastructure of the city of Morghul at a rate of 9:1; leaving Morghul himself with only 10% of the tithes collected over centuries of rule.
Now, details of his personal wealth are utterly unknown - and his spending habits in relation to his city may be an indication of his own immense personal wealth making him less concerned with the wealth of his people - but by and large he is not believed to be overly wealthy beyond the wealth he has likely accumulated to find his magical experiments and such.
To this end, he, like all rulers, has seen his fair share of burglars and thieves attempting to break into his palace-tower to try and rob him of his tithes and valuables - but since not a single such thief has ever returned or been heard from again, others have only been left to estimate his wealth.
