Following the death of Atlas, The Ineffable, the Gods sprang forth from his fractured and dying essence and took solid shape.

As Atlas, The Ineffable, Overdeity and sole creator of all the Planescape gave his ineffable existence to give all things shape and life, the first things to spring forth from his dying essence were the Primordial Gods, three, (perhaps four), ancient and truly divine beings that represented the most crucial component aspects of this new Planescape...Bahamut, the Platinum Dragon took domain over the skies and of good, Moradin, The Allfather took domain of all things beneath the ground and of law, and the now-gone third primordial brother, who held dominion over the Seas, Oceans, Water, and Creation itself...though many claim a fourth Primordial was born in secret, who took dominion over oblivion, endings, and the natural end that awaits all things.   Soon after, the Major Gods were born from their father's dead essence as well, and though some came into reality slumbering and would not awaken until many eons later as life began to take shape and give them power, they each represented crucial and integral components of reality that make up the fundamental building blocks of all things, though to a lesser degree as of the Primordial Gods.
