Wallen
The capital of the Kingdom of Wallen. This is the largest city in the Kingdom with a population of 30,000. The city is a carefully laid out square divided into quadrants by the two main streets. The city is surrounded by a 15’ wall and a dry ditch, except on the north side where the river protects the approach to the city. The three landward sides each feature a gate defended by a strongly built gatehouse. The north side has a Watergate which is a wide portcullis which can be raised to admit river craft into a large docking basin. At the north east corner of the city is the King’s Castle, the west Corner is the Barons’ Hall where Parliaments are held, the southeastern corner is home to the garrison and arsenal where any troops not belonging to the Royal Guard are posted. The southwest corner features a large market hall. The city had a central square where the two main streets meet. Crowded around the square are major temples, the guild hall and a pair of large inns. About three quarters of the population is Northron human, the southeastern quadrant is home to most of the city’s minorities including a small community of southrons (mainly merchants and artisans), Danites, Dark Corgerians and some Mountaineers.

Industry & Trade
The city features an active river port which moves the bulk of the city's imports and exports. Major products of the city include beer, ale, barrels, leather goods, tin products, candles and red and blue dyed woolen cloth. The latter are referred to as Wallen Red and Wallen Blue.
Guilds and Factions
The Royal Government is the most important power center here, various merchant guilds, the Underhill Clan, the Salyite Sisterhood and the Brotherhood of Vexdor all have a presence here.
History
The city was established just over 500 years ago after the collapse of the Sallen Empire. The city was planned to be an orderly urban construction foloowing a grid pattern. The Wallen family named the city in honor of themselves. As steady flow of settlers from Karmis, the West and the Spine moved into the region the city grew steady twice having its walls
Architecture
The city is typical of the north with steep roofed houses of half timbered or wooden framed houses.
