Jani

Jani was a Brigadier General assigned to the moon Turiken . He adopted a stern, but unconventional leadership style that made him something of a maverick among the brigadier generals. He was Royce's first and only commanding officer in the Lunar Brigade and gave Royce his familiar, Altus the Drowned .
While Jani saw great potential in Royce, he viewed the boy as too headstrong to advance in the Lunar Brigade and refused to promote him during his entire tour. However, he fostered Royce's career in his own way by recommending him to join the Corsairs.
Jani and Royce encountered each other once again on the Rim while Royce was working for the White Lion Armada. He is believed to have died at Royce's hands there, but records of the incident are spotty.
