Jotun

Jotun is the homeworld of the Geit. A cold glacial world, whose seas are carved through narrow canals between massive continents of ice. The sphere’s harsh winds prevent prolonged travel above the world’s ice-caps and have been known to rip the sails from the ships of unwary travelers. The most notable of which is the Shrikevind, a supernatural storm that devours everything it comes in contact with. Added to the dangers of Jotun’s wilds are towering machines known as the Fire Giants, who ravage and harass civilized travelers in search of their favorite drink; nectar.   Anyone who travels on Jotun for more than a day begins to take exposure penalties from the cold if they are unable to find a heat source. The only way to reset exposure is to sleep in a Geit City with an artifact called an embermuur: heat generators that can melt city-sized holes in Jotun’s glacial canals, within which all of the major Geit cities are built.   The planet is divided between two seas, a relatively tame and civilized South Sea and the more wild and dangerous North Sea. Any travelling on Jotun's northern hemisphere must be ready to face excruciating temperatures and take measure to prevent exposure. The North also holds other dangers as well, such as leviathans, hostile druid clans, and dangerous machines who are said to have been created on The Forge, an ancient ruin that sits on Jotun's north pole.
