Shizron

High atop the the mountains of Nalchaa, in the city of Kottamune, sit the original shrines to Shizron, the goddess of winter and snow. In the modern age Shizron has many small shrines to her that are active in the winter where people pray to her for bounty and protection, but she is worshipped year round by the Yuki-onna. In legends passed down since before the epochs Shizron did not come from Nalchaa, she swam across the sea north from Vithilgard. She had grown more than 50 feet tall and climbed atop the highest mountains to live in the familiar cold snow but when small humans began climbing the mountains to see her she saw they were freezing to death so she took pity on them and granted them the blessing of Frost Blood. They became one with the snow itself and stayed atop the northern mountains with her as the first yuki-onna.
Shizron ruled over the mountain caps in person in the days when gods walked the earth, and in those times when Nalchaa was divided into many kingdoms the rulers were called shoguns and she was titled the Winter Shogun. Though she left the mortal plane with the Second Epoch the matriarch who rules Kottemune still bears the title of shogun to remember her.
