Berkside Transit System by ROD w/Midjourney
Berkside Transit is the official train system in Crooked Mile and Newfaire. The entire track system west of the Bridleborne Mountains was owned by Halen West Railway. The company sold out its right to tunnel project and the east of the mountains track system. As of 1902 trains through two Bridleborne Mountain tunnels. One station is located at Mordant Springs and the other
Scarlet Woods Station East. The Scarlet Woods Station East is located near the west end of the Crooked Mile valley. At that train stop local residents can board a train that takes them through the north end destinations, including the Bulkhead Seaport, the Cemetery, Goose Landing, the Coastal Caves and south to the old market area.
The system came up for bid, but the newly independent Crooked Mile community could not afford to buy the system and restore the local trolley. The decided to wait until their two year anniversary came up to make a reasonable offer. Since ticket prices went up after Goose Landing commuters moved into the valley, the residents were disappointed they could not make changes to transit administration.
The engineers who are trained in Newfaire are not interested in Crooked Mile customer concerns. Their safety record is abysmal and the schedule leads to lengthy travel layovers. Accidents in the only tunnel that goes through the
The Scarlet Woods and occur early in the morning before daylight are the most dangerous. Survivors complain Cave Wraiths turn rescues into blood baths. During the most recent accident 83% of the passengers did not live to tell about it.
Berkside Transit System's relationship with the Newfaire Triumverate is suspicious. The company's insistence on calling the Pheriphery is even more problematic for the Crooked Mile Circle. They are careful not to use the train when visiting off-the-record locales.
