Rhamiel

Lord of the Deep

Deep below the seas, far beyond the reach of man stand the grand cities of the sea-kin. A race created by Rhamiel in his own image with one singular purpose, tend to the balance of the world. So Rhamiel and his kin wait ever vigilant below the waves, until the balance of the world has shifted, to rise from the waves and justify whatever had drawn their attention.   Rhamiel stands for balance and stability, with many seeing him as the guardian that restores the balance whenever it tips. And with a personality as water, unstoppable and predictable, his ways are effective yet simple.   Rhamiel’s mindset has a lot in common with Kydrus, with both of their ways focused on maintain the balance. He harbours a distain for Gydona, who seeks to uncover the secrets of the past. Secrets that very well might have been hidden for a reason.   See: Poseidon   Rhamiel, the massive titan of the seas. Many believe he originally was of giant-kind, especially eager to smite down those that would endanger the seas he held so dear. To this end, he would rally massive creatures to destroy those he deemed a threat, and on rare occasions, he would rise up himself and smite down those himself. His actions didn't go unnoticed by the denizens of the sea, predominately a race of aquatic humanoid, the Tritons. These started worshipping their protector as a god, and this, combined with the fearful devotion of the land-dwellers transformed the powerful giant in a being of godly power.   Rhamiel is the god of the oceans, the seas, and the proctor of everything that resides herein. As such sea-men fear his temper and often make sacrifices at the Shrines to Rhamiel which are present at any port town. Those that fail to appease this stern protector of the deep risk his wrath at the slightest infraction upon his domain. The Tritons which were his first true worshippers aid their aquatic god in whichever he demands and often serve as messengers heralding the doom of a ship sailing into bad or forbidden waters, giving the crew the option to turn around, the generally friendly demeanor of, generally younger members of this aquatic race, has given rise to the rumors of mermaids.

The faith: The Heralds of Rhamiel

They are devotees of Rhamiel, often weathered old sea-men who have witnessed his power firsthand, and somehow have managed to escape with their lives. They serve as a spokesperson for this sea titan and can perform rituals to bless the voyages of ships setting out, increasing the likelihood of a save journey. Furthermore, their unmatched knowledge of the sea, and in many cases sailing makes them highly-priced members of any ship crew, ensuring that any ship which braves the sea on a regular basis has at least one of the veterans on board. On a few occasions these devotees, somewhat scarred by their endeavors take up the calling of Rhamiel and venture onto the deep blue, seeking to assist their divine master in his divine work.

Shrines to NAME

In most cases, these shrines are not places on dry land, but to get slightly closer to the god these Shrines are built in a hull of a ship, which oftentimes still float and are moored at a predominant point in the harbor. On rare occasions, these shrines are literally made in the hull of a ship and as such can still sail, ensuring these shrines can move from port to port, providing their services wherever.   The interior of these ship-shrines if often decorated with bounties from the see, from pews made from driftwood to an alter decorated with dried starfish, common sacrifices to appease Rhamiel include martial wealth and living sacrifice of land-based creatures.
