MAIN QUEST: Escorting Ireena pt. 2: A Vampire In The Undercroft!
Part 2:
- Donavich mentions that Ireena Kolyana should be taken to the Abbey of Saint Markovia. It is much further away from Castle Ravenloft than the Town of Vallaki. The Abbot could prove to be a valuable ally, his connection with the morning lord is something divine. Plus, Vallaki is ran by Baron Vargas Vallakovich who tends to be ruthless. Access to the town might be an issue.
- Donavich says that Ireena Kolyana was found in the forest and adopted by the late Burgomaster.
A Vampire in the Undercroft:
- A little more than a year ago, Donavich's twenty-year-old son Doru and several other villagers stormed Castle Ravenloft in revolt, having been lured there by a wizard in black robes who came to Barovia from a faraway land (see chapter 2, area M, for more information on the wizard). By all accounts, the wizard died by Strahd Von Zarovich hand, and so too did Doru , who returned to his father as a vampire spawn. Donavich was able to trap his son in the church’s undercroft, where he remains to this day.
- Doru hasn’t fed since he was imprisoned, and he cries out to his father at all hours. Meanwhile, Donavich prays day and night, hoping that the gods will tell him how to save Doru without destroying him. If the characters seem intent on slaying Doru, Donavich does his best to stop them. If Doru dies, Donavich falls to the floor and weeps inconsolably, overcome with despair.

Cruel Tricks
If Doru is killed, Donavich becomes withdrawn and inconsolable. When the PCs leave the church, they can hear the church bell ring a single time. If the party returns to the church, they find that Donavich has hanged himself from the bell's rope.
