Scythar's Tail
Scythar's Tail is a densely populated peninsula at the western tip of Juwon. It is the most densely populated region in all of Juwon, with over 9 million permanent residents, most of whom reside in Kunari City. All of Kunari City's districts and boroughs are found on the southern tip of Scythar's tail, on the Dragon's Strait - and the entire peninsula is under KCMA jurisdiction. Generally, the weather is temperate, though temperatures have been rising slowly in recent decades, and the climate is classified as temperate coastal rainforest. Scythar's Tail sits on the coast of Varoc's Sea, which makes up most of the tropical Western Gulf.
Before the construction of Kunari City, Scythar's tail was a sparsely populated landmass with few major population centers. Estimates range from there being about 30,000 permanent residents to as low as 15,000. Most of these were Goblins, though there were small villages and ports owned by Juwon as well. While much of the rest of the world was affected by the Third Global War and the subsequent Net Wars, Scythar's Tail saw no real fighting and largely remained untouched. This would last until 2013, in which the territory was sold to a conglomerate of corporations by the Juwonais Government - irrespective of the native population. Soon, construction on a new, modern city-state commenced and the local population was relocated.
Climate
Scythar's Tail is primarily made up of a temperate oceanic climate and features a small temperate coastal rainforest on its northwestern coast. The region experiences heavy rainfall for the entire year and experiences mild temperatures in the summer months, with cold weather and light snowfall in the winter. Since Scythar's Tail sits at the end of a larger peninsula, the entire region is coastal, leading to rainfall year-round and generally milder temperatures.
Fauna & Flora
Scythar's Tail is home to a variety of endemic species and has generally been biodiverse - outside of urban areas at least. A majority of the trees in the region belong to the genus Caeruleus, containing a series of blue-wooded conifers. Regions outside of the northwestern forests are largely limited to brushland and sparse woodland - with ferns, large fungi, and broadleafs denoting much of the terrain. At the bare minimum, most terrain is covered by moss - primarily white in color.
There is no real lumber industry in Kunari City, so forests and natural landscapes outside of the city are really only destroyed en masse for the expansion of urban areas or as a byproduct of manufacturing and industry.
The majority of endemic fauna species are that of flightless avians, small Wyvernids, and Sylvenids. Various avian species make up the majority of the commonly encountered fauna on the peninsula: common examples include the Western Ptarmigian and the Scytharian Hillhen - both of which were commonly domesticated for poultry production by Goblin populations. Wyvernid's include the common Street Wyvern and its much larger cousin, the Mutthawk. Sylvenids are a small genus that includes magically attuned creatures found only in the rainforests on the northwestern coast. One of the more titular Sylvenids is the Northwestern Owlbear.
There is also a host of small animal species akin to those found all across Juwon. These include various insects, spiders, snails, slugs, and worms. There are also carnivorous small animals - primarily a host of larger spider species. Many of these larger insectoids and spiders are also common in local cuisine, with indoor insect farms being a major food source for Kunari City. Over the past century, more animal species in Scythar's tail have gone extinct than ever before - with most environmentalists attributing this to the rise of urban sprawl and the destruction of local ecosystems.
Goblins are also thought to have evolved or descended from some sort of sentient aquatic species in the region. Scythar's Tail is the cultural and societal homeland of Goblins and once housed various civilization centers of theirs before Kunari City's construction.
