Pasha

A Pasha, also called a Basha in the cities below the Alhambra River, is a title granted to the governors, generals, dignitaries, and ambassadors in Sraebadah. It serves a function similar to Neravian peerage and is one of the highest titles in the Empire.   Coming from the Kahlyese word for "Chief", the title is most often given to those who will serve counsel to the Sultan or his Emir. Both the Sultan and the sitting Emir have the ability to grant the rank. Pasha is not an inherited title and must be earned by every person who holds it on their own.   A Pasha ranks above a Bey and the Aghas but below the Khedives and Viziers.   The sons of a Pasha were styled Pashazada or Pashazade, which means just that: son of the Pasha.
