Giants

Descended from the primordial founding race of Abred. True Giants are now extinct, having shrunken over time, but their descendants remain. The Father of Giants, Cython, drowned in his creation after creating the Dustborn from the earth of Abred. From his blood and spit opened realms to the Etherworld (Annwn) and Unworld (Cythrawl). His children, smaller Giants but still four times the size of Dustborn, were born from his decaying skull. They reigned over the Cythonic Isles--the land which grew from his corpse--until Dustborn from other continents came and either subdued or mated with the giants to near extinction.

Giants have a natural ability to use advanced forms of defensive magic, and their bones and corpses are imbued with magic even after death. They tend to have longer lifespans than Dustborn--twice or three times as long. They were also, of course, much larger than Dustborn. They have been nearly hunted or bred out to extinction.
