The Arendort Amphitheater

In the heart of Arendort , a city within the mountain, lies a masterpiece of dwarven architecture: the Arendort Amphitheater. This majestic venue, located in the middle of the city, far from the hustle and bustle of the smelters and mines, is not only a place of entertainment but also a symbol of the rich choral culture of the dwarves.

Purpose of the Amphitheater

The Arendort Amphitheater was conceived as a space dedicated to choral music, especially to choirs, which occupy a central place in dwarven culture. Since its inception, the amphitheater has been the scene of various events, including:
  • Seasonal concerts: Each season is celebrated with a themed concert, where traditional songs and original compositions related to the season are performed.
  • Choral competitions: Arendort annually organizes competitions for small choirs (12 to 15 members), attracting participants from throughout the region.
  • Performances of religious choirs: The choirs of the various dwarven religions also use the amphitheater for their special presentations.
  • Amateur choir nights: Once a month, the space is opened to amateur choirs seeking to share their passion for music with the community.

Alterations

Throughout its history, the Arendort Amphitheater has undergone various modifications to adapt to changing needs and improve the experience of attendees. Among the most notable are:

  • Expansion of the stage: The original stage was expanded to accommodate larger choirs and allow for a greater variety of presentations.
  • Acoustic improvement: Acoustic techniques were implemented to optimize the sound quality, and metal plaques were strategically placed on the walls and ceilings to reflect and disperse sound waves.
  • Addition of lighting: A "modern" lighting system was installed to improve visibility, because the original magical light is now forbidden, during evening performances.
  • Construction of accesses: New accesses and trails were created to facilitate access to the amphitheater from different points of the city.

Architecture

The Arendort Amphitheater is a masterful example of dwarven architecture, characterized by its solidity, functionality, and harmony with the natural environment.
