The black void sea

This sea was cursed by the elves so long that for the most part of the population is a legend, a myth.

Geography

This once was a great sea, moreover was an ocean but magic made it something else.
The water not only turn black but became something like boiling tar that, more than burn, corrodes a lot of materials: metal,  stone, and specially living matter. So far only Mithril, Dimond and Lumina can resist this corrotion
Besides the "black water" corrosion a permanent mist, as a light gray vapor, is fixed up to 4 or 5 meters above its surface, this vapor has a intoxication/charming efect in sentient beings that became obsessed with getting in the water. Only a week of reclusion and light liquids are effective against this enchantment.
From the coast, despite the mist, it can be seen a great island, know as Murak, in minos languaje, that means "warning" but the  The orden of the Griffin are convinced is the legendary island where their ancestors ocult the griffins.

Ecosystem

Only the Death An-akmar lives, sort of, here.
Scholars, at first, think they are some kind of golems created with some magic material to wistand the corrosive tar, made as guardians but with a few encounters the believe now once where real sharks that change with the magic, now are something not natural.

Localized Phenomena

Hurricanes became streamly dangerous, not only because they carry some of the corrosive water or the enchanted vapors that made crazy sentient life.
Now the magic, are changin some desert lizards, insects, flora and the sand in the black desert.

History

Legends said was an very ancient an noble organization of griffin riders; humans and elfs or elven descendants and some other races.
Politics, racism, betrayal and other things left the once a mighty militar order, difuminated between the elven and human kindoms.
With the The two four war the dwarven/minos alliance know that a flight based confrontation, even skirmishes, would be a lost cause; then, they start to strike isoleted post of the order before they can react.
As a meausure to ensure the survival of the giffins the human, part of the order developt a plan to leave the griffins on an island to breed and ask the mage's court to ensure his safety: They enchant the sea and, at least the legend say, the island too.
