Esthur
Esthur was once a warrior of Heaven: honor-bound, well-known, and proud. Now, he is a mercenary with no renown to speak of, his name meaningless. He has abandoned the person he used to be and fights now for whoever pays him the best.

About
Appearance
Esthur is 10ft tall and quietly imposing. He is a dull gray-green color with black sleeve and stocking markings. His face is black with gray-green markings around his eyes, resembling the eyeholes of a skull. A single flame hovers over his head. He has a large collar of spikes around his shoulders and another spiked, belt-like structure around his waist. His tail is a black orb with eyes and a face, its underside a lighter gray color. His clothes are worn, but leave him a large range of motion in combat. The colors he wears most often are dark green and black, often with gold accents. He carries a magical sword, Veritas, which can be summoned to his hand and dismissed in the same way. He has no need to wear a scabbard to carry his sword in; he cannot be disarmed.
Personality
Esthur was once a warmer person, well-known among the other warriors of Heaven and friendly, if reserved, with those he saw often. He was rarely loud and never drew undue attention to himself, but his unique skills as a fighter, using both martial and magical techniques, spoke for themselves. He considered those he frequently trained beside dear friends, and while he was quiet he showed affection openly.Later, during the war with Agma, Esthur saw many of those dear friends fall—and not all to their enemies. Rampancy and corruption became just as common—and as feared—as the weapons of their adversaries. Esthur fought with all he had until the moment Heaven collapsed, leaving him in a new dimension all on his own. He was left with only one question to contemplate in his solitude: was all the violence worth it? In the end, Esthur couldn't wrestle with that question. He pushed it to the back of his mind, transforming his already reserved demeanor into something stoic and unemotional. Apathy became his most defining trait: if he did not care who he fought, or who he fought for, he could no longer be hurt by the outcome of a battle.
Now, Esthur is a very difficult person to read. His face gives very little away, and it can be difficult to tell what he is thinking. He is quiet and immovable, and he does not back down from a fight under any circumstances. He thinks only of the current battle and the one that will follow; he hasn't considered the future—or what he might want out of it—in innumerable years.
Story
Esthur has had a passion for battle since he can remember, and his warrior's spirit was recognized early on. His dual talents for magic and swordsmanship developed into a unique and highly recognizable fighting style; Esthur himself was unique and recognizable. His flaming sword, Veritas, was granted to him as a reward for his dedication: it holds magic of its own, allowing it to be summoned at will, and in the light of its flame nobody can tell a lie.Among his comrades, Esthur found stalwart companions—the closest to family he has ever had. One of his most important friends was a warrior named Aechor, to whom Esthur taught his unique fighting style. Most of these companions fell in the war with Agma; the rest, including Aechor, were lost to Esthur after Heaven collapsed.
Esthur spent years alone, searching for any sign of something familiar, and found nothing. It became harder and harder for him to justify the violence which had consumed himself and his comrades. At the same time, he began to realize that he had no other skills but those which he can put to battle: he had been fighting so long, first in training and later in war, that violence was truly the only thing he knew. In asking if battle was worth it, he was forced to ask if he had been wasting his life, and if all of his comrades had been doing the same—and Esthur could not face that question. Instead, he refused to engage with it.
Esthur made his living as a mercenary, selling his blade to whoever could pay him. He began to conceptualize himself not as a person, who could make active decisions and be wrong, but as a weapon. As a tool of those who hired him, Esthur was not at fault for the decisions he was forced to make. It became a comfortable sort of apathy: he did not care who he fought, or why, or on whose behalf. He only cared that he was doing the one thing he had ever been good at.
And then, at the moment he least expected, he discovered other Daitens...

History
Esthur and Aechor fought together in the war against the Agma. They were incredibly close, Esthur teaching Aechor all he knew of battle strategy and the use of magic in combination with traditional combat. Aechor looked up to Esthur, and was heartbroken when they became separated after the war. They think each other dead.
