Personal history
Valentina ran Oronovich Wax Works, where she made candles for the people of Vallaki. When she couldn't produce enough candles for one of Vargas' festivals, he had Isek beat her to the brink of death. She almost died and lost months of business as she recovered from multiple broken bones and injuries. The scars on her face and her dead eye are reminders of the beating. Lady Wachter's daughter Stella helped her during her recovery and Valentina joined Lady Wachter's "Book Club" looking for revenge. She was the only "commoner" in the group and wasn't treated well by the other members.
Meeting Thiala changed everything for her. She found a love for Thiala deeper than anything she had ever experienced. Life was meaningless before Thiala and she doesn't want to live that life any more. She doesn't care that her soul belongs to Keres now, she would have given it freely to be by Thiala's side forever anyway. She's a diligent student of the arcane arts, a devoted lover, and loyal apprentice.
