The Mark of the Light Fae

A Light Mark is a type of Fae Mark that can only be granted by Light Fae. This mark is by far the most common one to see on humans, as the Light Fae interact with humans and visit the human realm more often than the rest of the Fae. Humans marked with the Light Mark can use Light Magic, but are also able to use other types of magic if they practise enough. This is a difficult feat and is not often seen.

He's a bit eccentric, yes that's what you'd call it, but he's a good man! Very helpful one.
He doesn't like attention, but if you come to him with an illness he'll try to use his light magic to make it better.

Just like the Light Fae are seen as kind and benevolent creatures, humans with the light mark are seen as good and well-meaning. It is true that most people who have sought out the Light Fae to get the Light Mark are good people.

They want to better the world by making sure that Dark Entities can be banished so that they don't terrorize innocents.
Places that are troubled by dark creatures often have a resident who volunteers to find the Light Fae and get the mark. If this is not done, the settlement risk being overrun and terrorized by the dark creatures for years.

Light Magic is mostly known for being used for the right things. It's capable of much good and useful, but it can also be misused and abused. This isn't seen too often, but when it is, it has great consequences for those unfortunate enough to be near the user.

Magic Difficulty

The difficulty of each magic for an individual depends on the Fae Mark they carry. If you look at the Mark Circle (to the right), it's visible to see which marks are the opposite of one another and which are closer than others.
There are 3 types of mark-relationships, which translate into what magic is the easiest and hardest to use.

Mark-relationships

1. Opposite Marks
This is the mark that is on the opposite side of the circle.
The Opposite Mark of Light is Dark.

2. Adjacent Marks
These are the marks that are next to the given mark.
The Adjacent Marks of Light are Fire, Air and Spirit. Spirit counts as an Adjacent Mark for all six of the other marks.

3. Opposite Adjacent Marks
These are the marks that are next to the opposite mark.
The Opposite Adjacent Marks of Light are Earth and Water.

The Importance of Mark Relationsships

People with the Light Mark would have an easier time learning and performing spells from Air, Fire and Spirit, than Water and Earth.
It would be nearly impossible to learn spells that require Dark Magic without years and years of vigorous training.
