Librarian
Requirements
Must have served as a Scribe for at least 10 years.
Appointment
When the current Librarian dies a new one is voted into the position by the Scribes. Those who have served as a Scribe for long enough will declare their interest in serving as the Librarian. They will each be given the oppurtunity to present to the Scribes why they should be voted for. Then there is a general vote with every scribe getting to cast a vote.
Responsibilities
The Librarian is the highest level of a Scribe, and they hold the most power and responsibility within the library. They coordinate and direct scribing services for the entire facility. They supervise staff and conduct hiring and performance reviews. They train and mentor staff and update and enforce library policies, which include regulations, technology and literature laws. They are also in charge of the library's accounting and the general administration of the library. They determine which scribing projects within the library get funding from the library budget.
Grounds for Removal/Dismissal
Generally, they serve for life. However, the Mentor Scribes can call for a Fitness for Duty Review. This is the process in which the Mentor Scribes can challenge the Librarian's ability to perform their duties. They present their case before the Scribes who then vote to either maintain the Librarian or to Annul their appointment. If the Librarian is Anulled, a new Librarian is then promoted into the position.
