Wurvblight

Not much is known about wurvblight. Healers in Lucis have been unable to determine exactly what it is that is causing wurvblight. Other than bodily damage being observed, there is no physical cause determinable from autopsy.

Transmission & Vectors

It is unknown how this condition arrives at its victim. There is concern about whether or not it is contagious, but thus far no evidence exists to suggest it is.

Symptoms

  • Fever
  • Fatigue
  • Difficulty breathing
  • Pneumonia
  • Coughing up blood
  • Magical disruption
  • Significant joint pain
  • Loss of mobility
  • Brain fog
  • Delirium
  • Death


Treatment

  • Magical healing (often ineffective)
  • Comfort treatment


Prognosis

Extremely high mortality rate within 6 months to a year after symptoms appear.

Sequela

Those who survive often wish they had not. All experience:
  • Permanent and constant states of extreme fatigue
  • Bodily resistance to the effects of magical and natural healing
  • Slowed movement and reduction in bodily mobility.
  • Significant joint pain.

This illness has only spread to Lenosites at this time. 

Prevention

There is no known way to prevent catching this illness.

Epidemiology

At this time, medical and clerical professionals have been unable to determine a pattern or causality in the individuals catching wurvblight. 

History

Wurvblight first appears in Lucis in the year 470. Most notably within the Crusaders of Lonysus, Grace Lightbringer contracted the illness and succumbed within 8 months.
