A Stronghold Meant to Last
Kervost is a fortress built out of the northern Destov mountains. It was built in the pre-cataclysm age, commissioned by Rohowuanax Yahon when he united the mountain clans of Destov to form the first empire. The fortress itself is made from Fennstone (a material like limestone that can only be molded and shaped by the intense heat of dragonfire. Without a dragon's breath, the stone becomes impossibly hard and cannot be shaped or molded in construction).
Build It and They Will Come
Once the fortress was built, citizens of the former mountain clans came to the great imperial stronghold to swear their fealty to Emperor Yahon. Many decided to stay and establish a city beneath the fort. In the early days of the empire, the city flourished with life and wealth, with people of all blood and class coming to share their cultures in the great city. The city became a beacon of safety and strength for all peoples of the northern realms. Legends say that Emperor Yahon even communed personally with Henno, the Golden Wyrm, in their joint efforts to end the dragon war in a decisive victory over the south
Zavoyt Legacy
In modern times, the great city remains a beacon of strength for the empire, but safe is not a feeling one would generally acquaint with the life inside the walls. Military police watch your every move, and none are permitted to enter the palace that rests above the city walls. Ever since the first Empress Zavoyt took power, nonhumans have been persecuted and hunted near to extinction in the empire, but even human citizens are kept on tight leads within the city walls. Anyone practicing magical trades must abide by heavy restrictions and promise their work to the military should they find it useful. Each and every citizen is expected to do their part to aid the empire in their expansion.
