World Axis Cosmology
Overview
The World Axis is a cosmological model created after the dramatic changes to the nature of the multiverse caused by the great Cataclysm, and has since become the most widely accepted model of the local multiverse.Structure
The World Axis is composed primarily of the fundamental and parallel planes. "Above" and "below," the fundamental planes encircle the rest of the cosmology, forming hemispheres in the conceptual model, though since both the Astral Sea and the Elemental Chaos are infinite in size, this is mostly metaphorical. To the "left" and the "right" of the Prime Material Plane, which lies at the center of this cosmology, sit the parallel planes, which float in sync with the Prime. Together these planes form the World Axis, other planes lying outside of the model and having an indistinct cosmological placement.A conceptual model of the World Axis Cosmology.
Parallel Planes
The Prime Material Plane, or "Prime" is the realm around which the multiverse revolves. As far as our understanding goes at least. The parallel planes that float around it are understood to be "echoes" of the Prime. Research from pre-cataclysm explorers describe similar if not identical geography when comparing locations between planes. Corroborating this theory, the creatures of the parallel planes seem to exist as otherworldly echoes of prime creatures as well.
