Drow
Drow
The Drow were once denizens of the Material Plane, sharing the realm with their elven brethren without consequence. Many years have passed since those mythical times, and the Drow have fallen far from their original state. The Drow live far beneath the surface of known lands, deep in the Underworld. They are hated and feared due to their cruelty, though some non-evil and an even smaller number of good Drow exist.

race features:
- Superior Darkvision: Accustomed to the depths of the Underdark, you have superior vision in dark and dim conditions. You can see in dim light within 120 feet of you as if it were bright light, and in darkness as if it were dim light. You can't discern color in darkness, only shades of gray.
- Keen Senses: You have proficiency in the Perception skill.
- Fey Ancestry: You have advantage on saving throws against being charmed, and magic can't put you to sleep.
- Trance: Elves don't need to sleep. Instead, they meditate deeply, remaining semiconscious, for 4 hours a day. (The Common word for such meditation is "trance.") While meditating, you can dream after a fashion; such dreams are actually mental exercises that have become reflexive through years of practice. After resting in this way, you gain the same benefit that a human does from 8 hours of sleep. If you meditate during a long rest, you finish the rest after only 4 hours. You otherwise obey all the rules for a long rest; only the duration is changed.
- Sunlight Sensitivity: You have disadvantage on attack rolls and on Wisdom (Perception) checks that rely on sight when you, the target of your attack, or whatever you are trying to perceive is in direct sunlight.
- Drow Magic: You know the dancing lights cantrip. When you reach 3rd level, you can cast the faerie fire spell once per day; you must finish a long rest in order to cast the spell again using this trait. When you reach 5th level, you can also cast the darkness spell once per day; you must finish a long rest in order to cast the spell again using this trait. Charisma is your spellcasting ability for these spells.
- Drow Weapon Training: You have proficiency with rapiers, shortswords, and hand crossbows.
Drow are first and foremost a type of elf often called a dark elf, which means they have all the stereotypical elven features but darker. Drow tend to be tall and lithe, and almost supernaturally beautiful. Even a Drow down on their luck will pull off their rags with grace and dignity.
The main physical distinction between Drow and other elves is their skin color. Drow tend to have very dark or black skin, sometimes reaching a pure charcoal black. Others have a range of dark grey colors, verging on dark bluish hues. You'll also often see Drow depicted with dark purple or even close to lilac skin tones. Both sexes vary in height from 4'7" to 5'5", averaging at 5 feet. Males weigh between 87 to 157 pounds, averaging 109.5 pounds, while females are a bit lighter, weighing between 82 to 152 pounds and averaging 104.5 pounds.
The Drow are most commonly found separate from the Material Plane, often residing in the Underdark or Shadowfell, and have resided here since long before Kadamitas. They can also be commonly found in Ominkana, well-integrated with the society of the Yuan-Ti.
