Diaanen Elorialir Alea'athem

Diaanen Elorialir Alea'athem (a.k.a. Dianna)

Diaanen Elorialir Alea'athem is a singer and artist with The Unsurpassed Artists of Theatre Magique. She is half Elvirim and half Human.

Physical Description

General Physical Condition

Diaanen Elorialir Alea'athem is small of stature, but healthy. Her movement is graceful and precise. She is not physically strong, but she is not prone to illness. She has no difficulty with the long travels she takes with The Unsurpassed Artists of Theatre Magique and is able to withstand hardship and deprivation well.

Body Features

Dianna is slight of build by human standards, though she is slightly above average in height and weight for an Elvirim woman. She has very pale skin that is completely clear of any blemishes, but does not get sunburned. Her hands and feet are small, but her fingers are relatively long and thin. Her waist and hips are narrow, and her bust is relatively small by human standards, though somewhat large compared to most Elvirim women.

Facial Features

Dianna is extraordinarily beautiful, with striking, large, bright blue eyes. Her nose is small and straight, and she has full lips. Her ears are somewhat long and pointed, but less so than full-blooded Elvirim. Her hair is also very sriking, long, thick, wavy, silvery blond, with some stands that look like fine silver thread running through it. She is difficult to age. Though she is approaching middle age, she usually looks like she is in her early adulthood, but occasionally like she could be quite old.

Identifying Characteristics

Dianna's hair and eyes are the most striking features that set her apart from most people. She often wears head coverings and veils to avoid attracting too much attention, especially when she is alone. Her unusual beauty draws stares from some men and glares from some women, and a few times she has been approached aggresively. When she goes out, she prefers to be acompanied by a member of the The Unsurpassed Artists of Theatre Magique and to keep herself covered.

Special abilities

Dianna can move almost completely silently when she so desires. She is also an empath. Few animals, even the most aggressive, will attack her. Even flying and stinging insects do not bother her.

Apparel & Accessories

Dianna's clothes are loose-fitting and comfortable, silk or cotton blouses, dresses, and trousers in pale blue, green, pink, and other soft colors that allow her to move easily. She always wears the heavy silver Bharana earrings that were given to her by her Elvirim tribe at her Ceremony of Ascension.

Personal history

Diaanen Elorialir Alea'athem's (Dianna's) father was an Elvirim of the mountain forests. Her mother was a beautiful, graceful Human girl with a clear, melodic voice from a village at the base of the Great Southern Range near Senlokshi. Her parents encountered one another when her mother was foraging for mushrooms, herbs, and medicinal plants. She often would sing as she gathered. Dianna's father, Llewel Benialir Alea'athem, would secretly watch and wait for her, enthralled by her beauty and her Human singing. One day he dared to approach her, and after that they met often. Soon, they fell in love, and Dianna's mother, who was named Damaris Aveline, stole away from the village to marry him and live with him among the Elvirim people. Dianna was born not long after. Dianna grew up among the Elvirim, but her mother also taught her the Sudkou language and the ways of human people. From the Elvirim and her mother, Dianna learned to sing, and she loved nothing more than singing as she played in the forests with her Elvirim companions.   When Dianna was still in her early teen years, her parents were killed when the Elvririm village where they lived was attacked by a band of Orkrim. They tried to defend themselves, but the Orkrim overwhelmed them. Dianna hid in the forest, escaping the attack. Not knowing where any other Elvirim lived nearby, Dianna made her way to Senlokshi, the nearest civilized place she knew. A kindly human woman took her in, and Dianna eventually considered the woman her step-mother. She lived with the woman and her husband, her step-father, for several years. The woman always treated her lovingly, but her husband, though also a kind man, was a gambler and associated with a gang of smugglers and thieves. He borrowed a considerable sum of money from the gang to pay off his gambling debts. His cousin was a member of the gang and vouched for Dianna's step-father. When Dianna's step-father was unable to pay his debts, the gang killed him and her step-mother, leaving Dianna alone in the house they rented. They told the cousin that he must pay the debt, or he would suffer a worse fate. Knowing that Dianna had some ability to sing, he forced her to perform at an inn in Senlokshi to raise money. He gave Dianna almost nothing with which to live. One fateful day, the four members of the The Unsurpassed Artists of Theatre Magique went to listen to her singing. They were all enchanted by her beauty and her singing. They decided to ask her to join their troupe of entertainers. They went looking for her after her performance and saw her being beaten by the cousin and her money stolen. Donatello Genovesi enraged by what he saw, punched the thug over and over until he was unconscious and bleeding from his mouth and nose.   At that point, Dianna knew that all of them were in danger. The gang would look for them to exact retribution. She resigned herself to her fate, believing that she would not live much longer. When the four performers of the the Unsurpassed Artists of Theatre Magique proposed that she join them, and that together they leave Senlokshi, she was surprised, but quickly accepted. Clearly, Eia’au had a larger plan for her. So, she, Diaanen Elorialir Alea'athem, joined the Unsurpassed Artists of Theatre Magique to see where Eia’au's path led her.

Education

Diaanen Elorialir Alea'athem (Dianna) was educated by the Elvirim of the village where she grew up. She learned the language of the mountain forest Elvirim and their ways. They spent much of their time during the day gathering and crafting. They danced, sang, and worshipped Eia’au in the evenings. The Elvirim lived peacefully and in harmony and tranquility with the mountains and forests; however, they did have conflicts with Orkrim on occasion.   Dianna's mother taught her the ways of the Human people. She learned from her mother how to speak Sudkou and to read and write, though not fluently. Later, her human step-mother helped her to improve her fluency in the Sudkou language and to feel more at home in human society.

Employment

Dianna is a singer and dancer with the The Unsurpassed Artists of Theatre Magique. Her voice is ethereal and mesmerizing, a result of her natural gifts and her training among the Elvirm and singing from a very young age with her mother. Her dancing is graceful and light, her beauty in motion. Many have said after watching her dance that they were reminded of a white swan floating on calm water, moving without seeming to exert any visible effort at all.

Mental Trauma

Dianna still is wary of some people, especially those that appear to be unkempt, as a result of being abused by her step-father's cousin. However, the kindness of her step-mother and of the original members of the The Unsurpassed Artists of Theatre Magique, Donatello Genovesi, Anne-Laurie Trinh, Julien Henry, and Robin Corcoran, restored her trust to some extent. She also intensely dislikes, even hates, Orkrim and anything associated with them.

Intellectual Characteristics

Dianna is deeply spiritual, as are many Elvirim. She folllows and worships Eia’au, the deity of the Elvirim, and believes that her life is a journey on the path that Eia'au has ordained for her. Dianna is also quite intelligent, but her education by the Elvirim is strange by human standards. She knows little arithmetic beyond simple counting, addition, and subtraction, and she can barely read or write, but she knows the names of most every type of plant, animal, and insect, the names of dozens of stars and constellations, and can usually accurately predict the weather for several days into the future. She is deeply empathetic to most living creatures and hates violence. Even voices raised in anger disturb her. She most always speaks softly, seriously, and formally. Those rare times when she laughs, her voice sounds like the tinkling of small bells or birds singing and twittering.

Personality Characteristics

Likes & Dislikes

Dianna hates violence and strife. She loves nature and most all animals.

Vices & Personality flaws

By the standards of must humans, Dianna is very reserved and speaks formally. She is usually reluctant to share much about herself with others, though the four original members of the The Unsurpassed Artists of Theatre Magique were an exception, due to the circumstances at the moment she met them. To some she appears arrogant and vain, but not to those that know her well.

Hygiene

Dianna is fastidious about keeping clean and taking care of herself. She always wears clean clothes and washes them often. She bathes daily, or as often as she can when she is traveling, and applies make up; though she is not overly vain.

Social

Religious Views

Dianna is a devout worshipper of Eia’au. She meditates often and prays to her god frequently. To the Elvirim, Eia'au is the creator god of the universe and the only true god; the other deities are subservient to and created by Eia'au.

Hobbies & Pets

Dianna has a small, white fox that she keeps as a pet. One morning, as the troupe was wintering in Kinsanaile, Dianna was out walking near the troupe's compound when a little fox pup approached her. It was cold and thin. Apparently, it somehow had gotten separated from its mother, and was lost and hungry. Being so empathetic and attuned to the natural world, Dianna immediately knew the little fox pup didn't have long to live if she didn't help it. So, she bundled it up in her cloak and took it back to her living quarters in the compound. She found some food for it and got it warmed up. The fox could also sense Dianna's kindness and knew she would protect it. Dianna named the fox pup, Xobeng, which means "little ice." Xobeng is Dianna's constant companion, and she has taught it many commands and tricks. Xobeng is well-behaved, and she protects Dianna, warning of anyone approaching.

Speech

Dianna's speech sounds stilted and formal, due to her less than complete fluency in Sudkou and her upbringing among the Elvirim. She is polite to the extreme, expressing her gratitude profusely for even small kindnesses given her. She rarely expresses anger or even seems flustered, except when talking about or dealing with anything related to Orkrim.
