Vampirim

Vampirim are a subspecies of Daemorim. They are essentially Human or Elvirim in appearance, but typically have very pale white skin and dark, often jet black, hair. Vampirim are distinguished from Humans and Elvirim by their sharp, needle-like canine teeth or fangs, which are hollow like those of a snake.   Vampirim thrive on and derive power from the blood of other sentient beings, especially Humans and Elvirim. They use their fangs to puncture the skin of their victims and inject a powerful soporific and anti-coagulant poison, which puts the victim into a deep sleep and prevents the victim's blood from clotting. While the victim is sleeping, the Vampirim drinks the blood oozing from the wound. Usually, Vampirim do not drink enough blood to kill the victim, but it is not unknown for them to do so. The bite of a Vampirim often inflicts a type of magical "disease" on the victim, especially on Humans, causing the victim to become enthralled with the Vampirim, unable to resist its advances. The enthralled victim will willingly be bitten by the Vampirim and do anything the Vampirim desires. When the victim's blood is completely drained, he or she becomes "undead," suspended between life and death, animated only by the will of the Vampirim.   Vampirim are often physically attractive and charming to Humans and use that to their advantage to create opportunities, such as sexual liasons, to attack them.   Vampirim abhor bright light, especially daytime sunlight. They never venture outdoors until after sunset, and they return to their abode, which is usually underground in a crypt, dungeon, or cave, before sunrise. Those caught outdoors during daylight hours suffer severe burns to their skin which incapacitates them for months or even years.   Like all Daemorim, Vampirim are semi-immortal. A Vampirim's body may, with great difficulty, be killed, banishing the Vampirim to The Void for some time, to be reformed at some later time and some other place.   Vampirim are shapeshifters. They can take on the form of some other species, specifically Humans, Elvirim, cats, and bats. They often use the form of cats or bats when searching for victims at night. They use the form of Humans or Elvirim when seducing a victim to make him or her vulnerable to being bitten. They are also exceedingly strong, much stronger than most Humans, as well as quick and agile. Defeating a Vampirim in physical combat is very difficult. They are also resistant to many forms of magic. Their one weakness is vulnerability to weapons made of silver. In fact, anything made of silver is a serious danger to Vampirim. Touching anything made of silver severely burns Vampirim, similar to what happens when they are exposed to sunlight. It is said that the "heavy silver" used by Elvirim to make their Bharana is even more dangerous to Vampirim than normal silver. Touching an Elvirim Bharana made of heavy silver is often fatal to a Vampirim, which is one of the major reasons that Vampirim prefer Human victims to Elvirim.
