Index of Gods

Gods form the skeleton of Deus, acting beneath the surface to support its existence. Yet they are also dependent on mortals for their survival, much as bones require the support of the rest of a body in order to form and grow. Each one of the lesser gods was formed from belief in a worldly concept, and is shaped by the views of those in the mortal world.

As the lesser gods are as numerous as there are concepts they can embody—perhaps more so, as multiple lesser gods can represent a single concept—this list attempts to form an at-a-glance overview of any gods mentioned elsewhere in this encyclopedia, to streamline the process of recognizing their names. Gods are separated into three tiers of notoriety, then alphabetized by name according to Fourth Course alphabetical order. Note that a god's original name may not be their most common moniker.

Renowned Lesser Gods

Gods who are household names even in households where they are not worshipped. Any adult ought to recognize most of them instantly.

Dornara (she/her)
Titles: Nightwatcher, The Long Shadow, She Who Sees All Domains: Time, foresight, logic, peace Notable: Dornara created the Eagen species.

Oidaron (he/him)
Titles: Ferryman, The Final Reaper, Grim Reaper, Spectre of Death
Domains: Death, loneliness, shipbuilding, care
Notable: Oidaron is a Ferryman who specializes in souls left neglected by other Ferrymen.

Myvvol (he/him)
Titles: Woodcarver, the Small Twin
Domains: Industry, innovation, manufacturing, carpentry
Notable: Myvvol, alongside his brother Utar, created the Human species.

Utar (he/him)
Titles: Silvertongue, the Large Twin
Domains: Intelligence, lies, pride, cartography

Kiaruth (she/her)

Notable Lesser Gods

Gods who are widely known in some communities, but rarely acknowledged in others. Most adults should have some recognition of them, provided they are familiar with the title being used.

Titles: Twoface, The Wanderer, The Wandering Lady

Notable: Deixre created the Velsen species and the Yvelse language.

Artsiem (she/her or he/him)
Titles: Overseer, That-Which-Cares
Domains: Older siblings, familial love, protection
Notable: Artsiem is considered to be one of two contenders for the honor of oldest lesser god.

Airath (he/him)
Titles: Lightgiver, The Rising Star, He Who Illuminates

Notable: Airath is considered to be one of two contenders for the honor of oldest lesser god.

Vespa (she/they)

Odren (they/them)

Negligible Lesser Gods

Gods whose followings are scattered or concentrated so that they are rarely spoken of in larger society. Most adults would not have any recognition of their names.
