Runic Cannon

Utility

Runic Cannons are limited in their utility, as it is unsafe to move the cannons once they have been installed, they have primarily been used aboard the ships of Beregan as both offensive and defensive tools. Very occasionally a defensive fortification may commission a Runic Cannon if they have a sufficient choke point to truly make use of the weaponry.

Manufacturing

A proprietary alloy of metals is forged into the cannon of a barrel while a secret alchemical mixture slowly coats the cooling alloy. Once the barrel is forged, runic words of power are carefully etched into the rear of the cannon. The barrel is then placed onto a stand and fused together before being transported to its installation site.

Complexity

An incredibly complex design has meant that only the industrious nation of Thermark has been able to successfully produce the cannons. The runic words of power must be etched perfectly onto smooth metal without disturbing the alchemical mixtures contained within the cannon.

Discovery

Runic Cannon were developed in Thermark in 702 P.U. with the assistance of Summerbarrow alchemists. Therian inventors were seeking a way to harness some of the more volatile alchemical creations of Summerbarrow and found they could use a unique concoction to propel heavy objects.
