The Circuit

The Circuit are the largest tournament organisers in Beregan, formed in 611 P.U. in Tavasvi within Daer Welkin by a group of tourney competitors seeking unbiased judgement in their bouts. The Circuit looked to be independent arbiter overseeing the tournaments of Beregan in such a way that national bias would not play as large a factor in the results of the tournaments. Almost all tournaments ran on Beregan make use of a Circuit judge and those that don't struggle to find skilled competitors willing to participate in their tournaments. The Circuit takes a large cut of all proceeds earned by a tournament they host and maintain a yearly competition that culminates in the Arbiter's Trophy held on the 30th of Harrun in a different city each year.   Members of the Circuit are most often Man At Arms or former knights seeking their fortunes. Though anyone with the coin to pay the entry fee at a tournament is a nominal member for at least that tourney. The Circuit offers both an amateur division and a professional division each year with any individual who finishes in the top 10 of the amateur ladder becoming eligible for the professional division in the next season. The Circuit members who do not directly compete help to organise and run the tournaments, scout for and hire new talent, advertise the tournaments, and manage the coin required to run the company. The administration positions of the Circuit are filled with a mix of former tourney champions and retired Scribes from the The Order of the Broken Tome.

Structure

The leader of the Circuit is called the Arbiter and is responsible for having final say on decisions made about tournaments hosted by the company as well as performing ceremonial duties within those tournaments. There is only one Arbiter at a time and they serve until retirement at which point an appointed successor replaces them. The Arbiter is also responsible for maintaining good relations with the various nations of Beregan and ensuring that the tournaments continue unabated.   Beneath the Arbiter are the Marshalls who are the individuals that make up the administration of the Circuit. The Marshalls are responsible for collecting the entrance fees of competitors as well as the Circuit's cut of the proceeds from the hosted tournaments. In addition they manage both the bookkeeping and scorekeeping for the company and ensure the tournaments run smoothly.   Beneath the Marshalls are the Judges who oversee the individual bouts of the tournaments. Judges are responsible for settling any disputes raised between competitors and uncovering any attempts at cheating. Judges have the power to disqualify any competitor from an individual tournament and must be prepared for the abuse they may suffer from the crowds when making unpopular decisions.   Beneath the Judges are the Competitors who seek fame and fortune in the tournaments of the Circuit. Any individual who competes in a single tournament is considered a member of the Circuit on a provisional basis and become a full member once they join the professional division.
