Where To Start
Dicathia is a world full of many races, classes, and other options that you will have to choose from. Unless told otherwise, most player options will be restricted to those found typically in the continent, a specific region, or territory of a pantheon. With that in mind, the best place to start is within one of the articles below. You will find the options found in each location or pantheon within them.
Additionally, you can find accepted homebrew backgrounds on this Page. Due to the DM being buried under so many things to do on here many more homebrew backgrounds are approved yet have not been placed on Worldanvil. You can tell your DM the kind of background you are looking for and they will provide you with any that are applicable. Alignment is often seen as not really important compared to others however they are still required as it can help the player decide how to play their character. That said however your alignment is not permanent and will change based on your actions. Should it change you will be informed by your DM. Players may choose to start their character off with the standard equipment based on class and background, or may use the wealth by class rules (PHB page 143) if desired (take maximum roll).
Step 1: Choose A Race or Class
One of the best ways to start making a character is to first decide on a class or race you would play and then build the rest of the character around it. In Dicathia the Classes and Races available are decided by the region the characters are in or the type of campaign it is. Once you have decided which one to start with please decide on the other. Per your request the DM can offer suggestions and ideas as to what races might pair well with what class or vice versa. Listed at the bottom of the article are the pages for various areas and the different pantheons (Please keep in mind this section is very much a work in progress so details beyond the relevant sections are not yet ready on Worldanvil).Step 2: Choose Additional Mechanics
After you have chosen a race and a class you will have to choose the additional mechanics such as Background, Alignment, Equipment, and lastly Appearance, though not strictly a mechanic per see. A list of official backgrounds can be found here on dndbeyond. Not all official backgrounds are approved if it is not then they may be altered to fit the setting or an appropriate replacement will be offered. If you cannot see the details for a background you are interested in ask your DM and he will send you it.Additionally, you can find accepted homebrew backgrounds on this Page.
