D'Lith

The D'Lith mean The Light in High Jharette. The title is the signifies the highest rank in the Jharette faith. D'lith heads the church the most powerful organization on Shadcress. The D'lith balance and provides guidance on the dual nature of reality for the members of his faith.

Qualifications

Is male and has been and Ire for at least 10 dawns.

Appointment

The D'Lith is appointed by the council of Ire upon the ascension of the previous Lith.

Duties

Is the head of the Church. They make pronouncements on doctrinal questions. The provide the administrative direction to keep the Church functioning. They also rule on which children have simply passed from this world and which of their children have ascended to the heavens (this often time can be determined by how generous ones living family has been to the church and how pious they have been in their life).   After the concil of Council of Vruk'Lith, the D'Lith was striped of his doctrinal powers and simple is reponsible for administering holy rituals. The position has been reduced to a titular head of the religion. The real power now lies with The Shadvruk.

Benefits

The church is a very large organization that many people donate large sums of money to and in addition the church has a large labor force of disaffected males that join the church if they don't have marriage prospects. So the Lith reaps the benefits of this large organization and lives a very luxurious life.

Accoutrements & Equipment

The Lith can only dress in the finest of whites or the blackest of blacks and always in a combination of the two colors. Typically if the Lith is addressing a lower aspect he dresses in black with white accents and if he is talking about a higher asspect he dresses in white with black aspects. The most recognizable symbol of his power is the hat he wears. It is a form fitting cap with black and white zig zag strips horizontally wrapping around the hat. On the front of the hat is a rhombus shape that is the Lith dyes in a color of his choosing. The caps fabric would cover his ear but large oval opens have been cut to allow his ears to poke through. The bottom of the ear flaps distend into slender rhombi that reach down to his knees. One rhombus is black while the other is white. Fine needle work embroidery adorns the rhombi in the Lith's choosen color.

Grounds for Removal/Dismissal

Cannot be done. Although two Liths have been assassinated and one has stepped down after claiming to lose his way after a failed assassination attempt.
