List of Known Transitive Planes

  • Astral Plane (aka Astral Sea) (A great and timeless sea of empty space, populated by flying islands)
  • Ethereal Plane (A misty version of material reality, connected by impenetrable fog. This was destroyed for Toril after the Spellplague, but it has since returned.)

The following have been known as Transitive Planes, but generally are classified differently:

  • Shadowfell (A dimly-lit realm coterminous with the material. It is easy to become lost in the dark. Originally known as the Plane of Shadow.)
  • The Plane of Mirrors, which connected to the back of reflective surfaces
  • Spirit World (which only connected to Kara-Tur of Toril.)
Each had their own unique structure and means of travel, and each connected a different set of planes together.
