Boss Monster

Description

Boss Monsters are just one species of Monster, widely regarded as the most powerful. A Boss Monster is a humanoid species of high intelligence, with powerful magic that varies, but often manifests as fire, light or sparks, though the actual heat and use of this magic varies.

Appearance

Boss Monsters are covered in fur of one or two colors, the second commonly being of the hair on the head. Both sexes have horns that grow in upon adolescence; males have horns over twice as high as females'. Boss Monsters commonly grow to eight or even nine feet tall, not counting their horns. With faces shaped much like goats', floppy ears and little tails, Boss Monsters are often compared to that lowly creature in jest.

History

Before the rebellion against The Holy Sicatrin Empire, Boss Monsters were segregated from the others for harsher lives and more stringent rules. Every adult Boss Monster would be constantly watched by at least one (and often two) experienced Fae guards in service of the crown, for fear of what the most powerful of monsters could do. Despite these precautions, the Fae elite secretly regarded Boss Monsters as some of the most beautiful of monsters, preferring them above others for their ability to remain calm and strong in terrible situations, and their seemed propensity for obediance.

Major Figures

The only children ever born of Fae-Boss Monster unions came about in the era of The Holy Sicatrin Empire. One of them was Aztroc, a typical example of this phenomenon, with an enslaved Boss Monster for a mother and a Fae slaver for a father. He was raised briefly by his mother and her husband, another Boss Monster, but taken away in short order to work as an ironsmith. From birth he carried a deep anger and hatred in his heart, and many said of him that this was due to his Fae ancestry.

Culture

In direct contrast to their percieved traits during the reign of the The Holy Sicatrin Empire, Boss Monsters share a culture and personality of quickness to anger, quick thinking, and fighting, whether it be verbal or physical. Boss Monsters do not often keep secrets, and are not good with doing so. It is believed that this is a trait that carried over from Aztroc, the Father of Freedom and the proverbial father of all Boss Monsters that exist now; if not for him, every last one would have been exterminated during the rebellion.
