Frisk and her parents traveled to the Congregatio Magorum Summit outside of Capital City when she was twelve, and they pushed her to compete in a duel-until-injury with a higher-level mage; a Dalin, while she was still an Apprentice Child. When she gave in, she dueled this person, and failed miserably. Having been injured and thoroughly embarrassed, she hoped against everything that her parents would not punish her anymore. Then they threw her out of the house.

Mental Trauma

When Frisk's parents threw her out of the house for failing to be the prodigious wonder child that they had always demanded of her to be, she resigned herself quickly to a life where no one loved her. It was two weeks later that her grandfather Trisl finally found her, having been told of the situation, and he adopted her and took her into his home. The trauma of what happened never left her, however, and the belief that she had taken upon, that no one loved her, did not crack.

History

Trisl saved Frisk from the streets as she stared down the barrel of imminent death from starvation. Her father, Trisl's son, and her mother, Trisl's daughter-in-law, abandoned her when she was just twelve summers because she had failed to meet their expectations as a mage. Trisl did his best to spend time with Frisk, and even reduced his time spent counciling mages in order to be her new father figure, but she could never forgive him for what her parents had done. For you see, their expectations were so high because of him. Trisl was an Altrys, a member of the Consilium Magorum, The Council of the Magicians, and a prodigy with magic. So Frisk could never shake the feeling that it was all his fault that she had been abandoned on the streets, and when Trisl asked her to perform a spell that would kill him in order to save Prince Asriel, she did so gladly.
