Arcane Rebellion

The Arcane Rebellion was a protest in the Quorel'hrim Kingdom beginning in 298 ME and ending in 301 ME. It was the first major conflict to occur in the kingdom under the reign of Eron Ayn'Ior, who had appointed Serena Parmasson to the position of Prime Archmage against the wishes of a plurality of the kingdom's arcanists. The arcanists splintered from the Emerald Collegium and commenced a series of raids on collegium facilities across the kingdom, attempting to "liberate" magical items and research that were under the control of the mages' guild.   While the renegade arcanists were careful to avoid casualties during their raids and vandalism, Quór'melár's heavy-handed response to the rebellion caused an escalation leading to open violence across the kingdom. The Collegium established the Peridot Phalanx to bolster the ranks of the Green Guard with battle mages who would engage the rebels in arcane combat, leading to more extensive property damage and the deaths of several powerful wizards. Many of the rebels went into hiding while their compatriots sought to parley with Quór'melár and bring an end to the violence. In 301 ME, King Regent Ayn'lor and Archmage Parmasson met with the commanders of the rebel forces to sign the Writ of Thaumaturgy, which officially brought an end to the rebellion.   The surviving rebels not in hiding were pardoned by the King and given positions within the Emerald Collegium, with agreements being made by the High Archmage to loosen some restrictions that had been put in place by the previous king.
