Dragon

Dragons are an ancient species native to the plane of Divostra. They were the first creatures granted sentience by the Primordial Titans during the plane's formation, bestowed with an inherent connection to the Thaumic Weave in order to serve as a conduit to the Weave for the Titans. Following the birth and eventual binding of Kai'ossh, the dragons renounced their creators, forming their own religion centered on worship of the dragon god Asgorath. Seeking to maintain their power over the Weave, the Titans created lesser sentient species, including the Dwarves, Gnomes, Firbolg, and Genasi, to replace the dragons.

Geographic Origin and Distribution

Dragons were once common throughout Divostra, with population groups settled in every corner of the world, but in modern times it is more common encounter solitary dragons, and even this has become an exceedingly rare occurence. Chromatic dragons were slaughtered to near extinction during and following the Dracomachy, as both metallic dragons and mortals sought to forever extinguish any hope the chromatic dragons' had regarding planar domination. Even before the conflict, chromatic dragons already loathed collaborations, and so those that survived the Dracomachy elected to carve out territory for themselves rather than reform their flights. Large swaths of the metallic dragon population died fighting in the Titanomachy and most that survived the conflict chose to isolate themselves further from the affairs of mortals. Some used their magic to hide among mortal populations while others secluded themselves, content to pursue self improvement or the collection of knowledge.
