Coba-Coba

A small village of under one hundred permanent residents, Coba-Coba is nestled deep in the forests. Primarily a settlement of humans and half elves, the last few centuries have seen an influx in diversity due primarily to the establishment of the cooperation of forest and city done by Grimmarc.

Demographics

The majority of the common peoples ply trades dependent on the forest surrounding thier home. Denizens are mostly human and half elf, but goblins, hobgoblins, orks, and even lizardfolk live here permanently. Farmers, Foragers, Hunters, Thatchers, and Tailors are the most prevalent proffessions in the town. These trades people tend to mostly ply thier trade out of thier own homes and adjacent workshops, but some of the more notable ones will make thier way to the town square to peddle in the market space. The Fellers of Coba is a lumber union in the town that supplies the town with lumber as well as exporting lumber to larger settlements for greater profit. Denizens mostly work and barter with each other to eek out thier survival, making trade with outsiders is the only percieved real way to attain any sort of wealth in the traditional sense. An alchemist resides in this town. He doesnt get any trouble from the locals due to having thier respect. He is known well enough by the locals and repeat visitors that he gets plenty of attention and bussiness. It is rumored he doesnt recieve any trouble due to the fact that he will revisit said trouble on his assailant in many greater multitudes.

Government

Coba-Coba is a settlement run by a small council mostly made up of family members of one specific family, but populated with some locals as well in order to avoid appearances of nepotism. Generally, crime and punishment is carried out quickly and in the streets in an almost frontier justice style. For crimes that are either more heinous or clouded in doubt regarding the details, the accused and accuser and any relevant parties are detained until they can be brought before the town council for judgment on a public stage. There are not any sort of specific taxes or dues here, but instead an unspoken understanding that everyone is expected to provide aid within thier means for the good of the settlement as a whole. Refusal runs the risk of souring relations with the other townspeople and the council. In extreme cases, this leads to exile from the setllement. The is no officially established guard or militia. Instead, all people do thier best to protect themselves and thier neighbors with whatever simple means they can, such as carrying personal armamnet and hiring of Bouncers depending on thier needs. Corruption is rare due to the small size of the settlement.

Industry & Trade

The biggest driver of wealth comming into the settlement would be the Fellers Union as they routinely make trips out of the settlement to sell thier lumber to distant buyers. If not for them and passing travelers, there would likely be no gold nor a need for gold in Coba-Coba.

Infrastructure

The center of town is a muddy square with a crude statue at its center. The statue has repeatedly deteriorated and been repaired over time to the point that its a source of some debate what it actually was to begin with. The streets of the town are damp forest earth edged with sheets of moss with the highest traffic areas being made into a loamy mud such as the market square and streets on which the stables and or smith resides. Most building are constructed primarily of logs and mud with thatched roofs made from neary tree branches and grasses. Some building such as the smiths workshop and carpenters hut feature hard stone foundations made of a mosaic arangment of rock fragments so that the artisans can have a strong foundation on which to shape thier crafts. Horses are not generally for sale, but cartwrights and a smith can repair stranded travellers. Locals sell some meager food and supplies if travellers find themselves in need of provisions. The town is surrounded by pallisade wooden walls, with the three points of entry being open portals in the pallisade in or out of town.
