The 8th District
The 8th District is, by the standards of Doreymos, a fairly normal district. It has a moderate amount of industry, magical aptitude, mundane craftsmanship, residential housing, chaos and order in spades, and a relatively normal bell curve of wealth. What makes the 8th special, though, is that for its entire lifespan, no guild, company, or organization has managed to fully 'claim' it as their territory. While they swear fealty to The 4th Embry, the citizens of the 8th District are mostly normal people who desire to go about their normal lives. However, with organizations from across the city vying for a foothold in this otherwise 'unconquered' district, their neutrality can be as much of a detraction as a benefit of living there.
Government
The 8th District mostly follows the democratic representative government instituted by the 4th Embry. Additionally, some families and independent businessmen hold a disproportionate level of power in how the government is run in the district, as their financial weight can frequently be leveraged for more political clout.
Defences
The 8th garrisons plenty of protection from The Ember Corps and has guard buildings sporadically sprinkled throughout the district. However, no permanent fortifications exist commonly throughout the city besides these.
Infrastructure
As a small city, the 8th District's roads are mostly well-maintained, paved streets, wide enough for carts going in both directions, with a reasonably well maintained sewage system as well. There are also a series of ports and locks in place along the river running through the district, as most of the other districts haven't bothered to develop the river besides them, leading to a trade center in the 8th.
Architecture
The 8th District is a fairly vertical district, albeit not to the degree of The 7th District, and is primarily dominated by towers, tall buildings, and looming houses. However, due to the wide design of the streets, it's actually fairly bright, with many of the buildings easily catching light for most of the day, and the simple but pleasant architecture giving plenty to look at in the day.
